Getting rid of paint on my car! HELP PLZ

Few days ago there was a spray paint can flying on the highway somehow and few cars got hit it and i was one of hte unlucky person.

However there was no dents but the paint spattered all over the bottom of hte bumper.
I tried removing it with just water and it wouldnt come off.
I went to a detail shop and they got a bit off and said they can do it but asking to do a full detail for $250 but my cars fine and i dont want a full detail
Just got a full inside out detail from a dealer 2 weeks ago.

I was wondering if anyone knows what they used to get the stain/paint off since they didnt let me see it but they did remove it.

So please let me know what i need to buy or what i should do.

Thanks.

Sorry to hear that but here's what I would do.

Pick up a clay bar kit at your local auto parts store. Break the clay bar into about 8 to 10 pieces and using them one at a time with plenty of clay lubricant work the area to remove the spray paint. Keep working the piece after each section to expose a clean side of the clay piece. When that piece fills up with paint or dirty grit stop using it and grab a fresh piece. If the paint doesn't come off the next aggressive approach is straight isopropyl alcohol or even more agressive acetone. If you do resort to acetone DON'T let it dwell on the car's paint, flush it off with a good soapy solution and then reapply your wax or sealant.

This is what some 13 year old in my cousin's neighborhood thought would be funny to do to 15 cars on mischief night, including her Infinity. She was lucky, she didn't have swear words or penis drawings on hers on hers. It was an ordinary can of Krylon, they found it by her car.

I tried a clay bar first because I figured it would be really gentle. It hardly did anything to remove the paint and did nothing at all to the paint that got in the weather seals.

After giving it some thought, I realized that manufactures have to make paint somewhat gasoline proof, so I ended up using ordinary GASOLINE which took it RIGHT off, it was so easy, I couldn't believe it. Then I washed it right away and used a 3 step (Cleaner, Polish and Wax) and you can't even tell anything happened to her car now. No strealking, no shadowing, nada, just new looking paint again.

Good luck! I hope whatever you use, it comes out as good as hers did.

You might want to spring for that $250 detail because the results that you get from the above advice might end up costing you much more.

Paint is not "gasoline proof" nor will Isopropyl alcohol do anything.

You have two choices - remove it chemically or mechanically - both have their advantages and disadvantages.

Do you have a picture of the damage so that we can advise you? Too bad all the really good detailers here got banned from posting.

I've removed paint that came over the fence, from several vehicles, just using clay. It might take a little bit of time, but it wil come off. It might make better sense than going to the local auto store, and instead go to the local auto paint store, and tell them you have overspray. They'll have the right clay/lube combo to get it off. I removed tan paint from my black bike, grey truck, and maroon minivan with the right clay. I've also removed plenty of transfered paint on car from metal fences, bumpers, etc.

Best regards,
Wede

I've never ever seen any damage from short term exposure of a factory paint job harmed from overspill of gasoline. Maybe if you spill it on and leave it on forever, and spill more, then more, well, I am sure that will eventually hurt it. For any manufacturer to not make it "somewhat" gasoline proof, like I said, would be as stupid as having it so it can't be exposed to rain.

My Flex and products did absolutely nothing, the clay bar was a little better. I would have put up an "after picture" but it looked just like any G37x in the Infinity new car brochure after it was finished.
