removal for painting

Anyone know how to remove that strip of metal that runs from the winshield to the rear window, just above the door frame, the part that you could connect racks to? I can't figure out what that is called, but I want to pull it and have it painted or powder coated as it's starting to look really bad.

Best regards,
Wede

Somebody from DIY sections mentioned they just pop out of the track. I haven't tried it yet, but soon, before the incredible amounts of rain start falling out of the SoCal sky
