Ship info and pictures
Hi all, This is my first BMW and first post here. My E92 is ordered and on the ship Aida. I started a folder about the ordering/buying process and have gathered up info, pictures, catalogs, etc. for a scrap book type collection. I came upon this site which gives info and pictures of the Wallenius Line which is used for transport to the U.S. east coast. Wanted to share it with those anxiously awaiting the new "baby".
www.walleniusline.com Go to "the Fleet", hit ship name, hit picture. Enjoy. |

The ships are cool as hell... amazing how they can hold so much weight.
I got a question.... how are the cars loaded on? Ae they in individual steel containers and then just forklifted on? I assume this is how it works. |

For a better understanding of what is involved and how the cars are secured for the ride, take a look at the pics at this site: http://www.offworld.com/e46/images.html

That is some fine looking garage, isn't it? I guess the holes in the floor are for tie downs. Hope mine is well secured. I saw one stat that the sea was 15' swells. TAKE CARE OF MY BABY Captain.

Cool article. Pretty amazing how they keep track of all the cars and get them all where they're supposed to go in such a short time frame. Too long of a time frame for us people waiting sometimes... but that's quite a job to have move that many cars around. Thanks for the post KL2DC.

ismithnc: yeah its a cool site, I believe this is the only site with in depth pictures on what goes on inside the ships. I haven't seen any others, too bad the pics are a bit old but it gives a greater understanding.

AJ,
What's your car's status? Has she reach status 190s? Have you been tracking her obsessively?

Thanks for the connection to the Tricolor site. I'm fascinated by the incredible source of knowledge available from the dedicated members. I hope someday I can be of value to the newbies and veterans. |
