Those who replaced their D1S bulbs, thickness issues?

Just recently I bought a pair of d1s bulbs from jlevisw. When I received my package today, I noticed that the base of the bulbs were a bit thicker. In my prior experience, I had bulbs with the same thickness but I was never able to put them in for the life of me (especially with the metal hook for those who know what I am talking about).

So I was wondering those of you who have replaced their bulbs, who had faced the same problems and how were you able to put them in? I was told that even with the thickness, you can still put them in, but it would be a bit tricky. But from my experience, it would only end in fraustration.

Any insight would definitely be appreciated.

I had the same problem back in 2008 when I first switched to 6000k. It was GP thunder. The base was 2 to 3mm thicker than the OEM. It is no way that you can put the bulbs in because the metal clips can never lock due to the extra thickness.

My frustration ended up calling the vendor / seller and asked him for the refund.

We've had no issues when installing the MTEC D1S bulbs on our customers' car. I would ask the vendor for some assistance if anything.

I've installed my Xenondepot low beams many times. Not a single problem. The thickness seems the same. Must be a brand to brand variation.

These are actually my 3rd set of d1s bulbs. The first set I had fitted like a charm, no problems at all. One day, one of the bulbs blew out so I bought another pair. But when I tried installing those, I had issues with the metal clips due to the thickness of the bulbs and I just kept getting frustrated like you probably did while trying to install them. So before even installing the ones I just got, I know they're not going to fit and I'm worried. I was hoping maybe someone else here who got their's to fit could provide some insight.

I think it is a brand variation. Like I've said before, this are my third set. Last two have been thicker than the first ones. I've also installed and removed my d1s several times, but unfortunately I just could never get the thicker ones in..

I installed ebay 6000k D1S bulbs that were 47.99 shipped for the pair. No issues on the install and never had a problem. Also I received the bulbs in 2 days.

For those who replaced their bulbs, where did you get yours from?

I've tried installing them, but I just could not get them to fit..now I'm facing issues of some condensation building up in the lights which sucks

When replacing your D1S bulbs, make sure you're in a dry environment otherwise humidity is going to flow in once the rear headlight covers are opened.
