Ah, thanks for the description...seemed a bit steep for only 1 function.

SmartTOP does not perform alarm emulation, only remoteKEY+.

Yes, I agree but I thought it was not possible to put one on the E9X's, if it is possible it is very expensive!

The only thing keeping me at home right now is that I'm watching soccer. Otherwise I'd be dreading going to the gym... I'll be getting to this point about 2 hours from now I'm doomed regardless.

By the way who is playing? There must be a way to put a remote starter on our series at a reasonable price. Because if this is going to be our coldest winter I would pay for one to. |

remoteKEY can be seen on the website here: http://www.europeanautosource.com/ad...ords=remotekey
We've done it before, but it's a huge liability if a 6MT car is accidentally left in gear with the remote starter activated. Also, since it requires an additional key stored behind the dash - this eliminates those vehicles equipped with comfort access.

This mornings upset (Manchester United vs. Leeds; 1-0 for Leeds) left me wanting to see Arsenal out too lol... it almost happened though. West Ham scored just before the half time break, but then ended up losing 2 - 1.

The way my previous car remote starter worked, was by a set series of steps that needed to be done in order to ensure the "manual transmission liability" couldn't happen. It was done by removing the key from the ignition, however the car would still be running (therefore at idle, you couldn't be in gear). When you got out of the car and shut the door, it would lock the car first, shut off the car, arm the alarm and THEN would it enable the remote start feature on the key-fob. That was the only way you couldn't leave the car in gear and still have the remote start feature work safely.

And I don't believe I have comfort access (which would mean that the car senses that the key is near and unlocks the door). So that said, what would one need to install the remote starter? Because it is damn cold here!!! |

Is it really that much of a pain to pull the handle twice? Jeez we're getting way too lazy nowadays.

Well in your original post you clearly said it was "a pain". No mention of wear and tear.

Then you might want to reprogram the door locks to not lock when you drive off. Think about all of that wear and tear each time it locks itself. THEN all of that unlocking. With each cycle, it gets one step closer to door lock death.
