F'ing Moron Driver!
You can complain about speed cameras all you want but sometimes they are a good thing. Helping take idiots like this off the road:
http://www.abc15.com/content/news/so...Ei1dx5Wsg.cspx [QUOTE]Cameras catch driver speeding, standing through sunroof Reported by: Deborah Stocks Email: dstocks@abc15.com Last Update: 11:57 am PHOENIX -- A Chandler man has been booked into jail after he was caught on camera allegedly speeding while standing through the sunroof of his vehicle. The Department of Public Safety says 25-year-old Richard Anthony Flores Jr., 25, was arrested on two counts of reckless driving and one count of criminal speed stemming from three separate incidents. Flores was also served with seven civil speeding citations. According to DPS, Flores was caught on camera on November 11 around 6 p.m. traveling west on the U.S. 60 near Mesa drive at 79 mph while standing through his open sunroof. The posted speed in the area is 65 mph. See photos of the driver in the attached slideshow Just two minutes later, DPS says Flores was captured again standing through the open sunroof near Alma School Road traveling at 78 mph. Watch video of the alleged driver speeding past cameras Flores had also been caught on camera on November 6 traveling 90 mph on the San Tan Loop 202 near Lindsay Drive, according to officials. DPS says between October 14 and November 18, Flores' vehicle activated photo enforcement cameras a total of 14 times. Investigators have been able to identify the suspect in eight of the 14 violations at this point. Officials say Flores has a California license plate on his vehicle with a louvered plate cover in an attempt to obstruct its visibility. He apparently has a California driver's license but investigators discovered that Flores has a local address in Chandler. When investigators contacted a family member at that address they advised them Flores needed to contact DPS. Flores apparently called the same day and turned himself in the next morning./QUOTE]

Wow that is upsetting, but on another note if he didn't have a front license plate he would of never been caught.

This is AZ. He had a front plate but those cameras take a pic of the rear for the plate. The only reason they take a front pic is to get your face since we don't have front plates here.

For the 1 (read: one) ticket that caught a driver acting in the wrong, 12 (read: twelve) received tickets for taking right turns on a red, stopping a tad past the white line, or not quite getting their trunk out of the intersection in time.
Screw those cameras. They're illegal and against our rights yet somehow the cops STILL use them

I lived in Phoenix for the past 3 years, and AZ is terrible when it comes to tickets. And unfortunately you'll rarely get a ticket from an actual officer unless he's on a motorcycle. I'm not sure what the rest of them spend their shift doing - other then supervising road construction, but they're not out patrolling the roads. The speed cameras/DPS vans are all over town and it seems they go off whenever they want. One thing to be aware of (and this is done completely at your own risk)... but the general thinking is they have to physically serve you the ticket to prove that you did receive it, so when you get it in the mail toss it out. Just be careful who you open the front door for during the next 120 days.

which car they caught speeding, there was another car going about the same speed as him in the field of view. Thus the problem with speed cameras on big highways with lots of cars, not way for the device to know what car was going that fast, it just snaps pictures and your guilty. But this guy is a moron for sure.

I've served more than a few by knocking at three different times at the last known residence, then mailing and filling out the extra proof of service by mail. IT's an extra form on the computer, but still a valid service.
One time the guy I tried to serve called the cops to get me off private property (I was on the common in the complex) Cops got there, got him to identify himself, then I went to hand him the summons. When he tried to say he wasn't served because I put it inside his door and not in his hands, the officer on site said he would testify I had a valid service |

Of all the places I've lived so far, AZ has by far the most accidents I've seen and the worst drivers.
All the speed cameras have signs on the side of the road that say you are approaching a camera. You just have to be vigilant. Plus, the vans on the side of the road set off radar detectors. |
