need a mattress review
anyone out there ever bought a mattress from badcock furniture? looking at a king size firm. they carry a perfect sleeper by the name of kingsbrook. they have a pretty good sale going on. buy a king for price of a queen. just dont want to end up sleeping in another hole in middle of bed. i think its the most hardest decision to make when buying a mattress.

Mattress Guru told this to me years ago:
#1 Stay away from pillow tops. #2 Thickness does not = better. #3 Spring Firmness scale (Softest to Firm): Simmons (IIRC now bankrupt), Sealey, Sterns & Foster. #4 Sealey bought Sterns & Foster years ago, yet they do make different mattresses. #5 Pay careful attention to specifications when crossshopping. All mattress companies supply the same mattresses to their customers but each customer will get a unique name for "their" line. There may be minor differences in the outer fabric, so don't get caught up in that. #6 If you want foam, look at Latex (Spring Free Sealey, or Sterns & Foster). They breathe and don't rely on body heat to conform to your body. #7 You generally want FIRM springs across the board. If you're a side sleeper get more padding and if your wife is curvy look at "Plush". If you're a back sleeper then you want less padding. Did I say no pillowtops? #8 You can always make a hard mattress softer by adding a topper, but you can't make a soft mattress harder. #9 Mattress types: Firm, Firm Plush, Plush, Ultra Plush. A retailer may sell the Firm and Plush of a mattress line while another retailer will sell Firm Plush and Ultra Plush of that line. #10 NEVER buy a floor model (No warranty). #11 If you have a queen or larger make sure you have a strong center support for warranty purposes. Wooden slats across a bed w/out a center support are NOT sufficient. http://blog.pennlive.com/mattress/index.html Good luck. Last edited by F32Fleet; 01-20-2010 at 08:43 AM.. |

I have a bed I jacked from my parents house when they moved. I always get the question "Don't you hate sleeping in the bed after your parents had sex in it?" and my answer is always "They didn't seem to mind sleeping in it after I had sex in it." Of course, they might not have known...
I read the initial post and thought it may be a joke. Matress, badcock, hole in the middle...

I need a new bed myself and plan on getting a latex if they are comparable to the temper's. The heat resistance is an added plus. |

Btw..I meant to say SpringFree for Sealy Latex. Not Spring Air. And if you're looking at latex you will notice that you won't find a Sealy SpringFree along with a Sterns and Foster Latex on the same floor since Sealy own's Sterns and Foster. Good Luck. |

My wife and I both have back issues. We bought a latex foam mattress a couple of years ago (can't remember the brand right now). $3k, but I'm happy. It did make a difference.
