Exhaust question
i may get flamed by this dumb question.... i've searched and listened to the videos from exhaust sticky thread.... since there's too many options/choices, does anyone here know what is the most quiet exhaust in the market?
something not drone while freeway cruising and sounds like stock and it starts roaring when high rpm approached? currently i have x-pipe in my E90 and occasionally golf tee mod. this gives me drone for sure while 2000-2800rpm cruising on freeway, when it gets too annoying i have to undo the golf tee to get myself a more quieter freeway cruise. i'm open to see any advice/option if there's such exhaust system which is quiet like stock when cruising but gets mean when high rpm ~4k+ thank you for all suggestion.

Well, the flap that the golf tee mod opens up, will result in more cabin noise. Have you looked at the BMW Performance system?

From what you're describing, the BMW PE would work out great for you. First of all, it's OEM and doesn't void any warranty IF installed at your local BMW dealership. Secondly, from what all members have thus described, it is very "stock-like" when cruising, but sounds much more aggressive at higher rpms. And from what others have said, NO DRONE in the cabin whatsoever. I've heard this exhaust in person on an e92 335. Sounds beautiful. Definitely not "ricey". All GERMAN! I'm not concerned about the interior cabin noise, and I have two little ones
I will have mine installed in a week or so.

yea but $1800 for a pair of mufflers seems steep... doesn't it?

You can also opt for a Remus sports exhaust, which is a nice balance between sound and noise. Its pretty quiet on everyday driving but once you go WOT it sounds pretty good.
If you're looking for the most cost effective system, check out the AFE exhaust |

No doubt. You know what they say...gotta pay to play. Seriously though, you know that all OEM parts, whether cosmetic or performance parts, will cost more. I am strictly an OEM-type of guy, so I guess to me, it's worth the extra $$$. To answer your question, "yes", I do think it's rather pricey for just two mufflers. But, you can definitely get it for less than $1800!

Any exhaust system thats a catback will have drone...Some people will say that "there is absolutely no drone in my exhaust" which to me is BS, because it will exhibit some drone when the car is under load (for instance going up a hill )...Some might have more while other exhaust systems will show significantly less...

sorry to dig up an old thread....
does anyone know where can we get the euro spec bmw perf. exhaust in US? i called the dealer and they said they are only selling the US spec which is without the exhaust flap, i'm kind of interesting in the euro version since it has the flap on the driver-side muffler and that will quiet down a bit on cruising....
