Im looking to get an intake for my 328xi coupe. I was wondering what you guys though was the best one in terms of value and which was the best in terms of performance. Thanks in advance for any help!

performance gains in an intake is a joke really, you might get a few HP but its mostly for the sound..
Ahhh the beautiful sound... Like a Panther on Steroids.. Honestly (people might jump on me for this) Of the ones ive heard the Fujita sounds the best for the money. But any open air short ram system effectivley eats hot air form the engine bay, so if you want power get a closed system like Gruppe M (1500$ later) lol ( I have a Fujita that I use when its colder (not summer in Cali) and a modified stock box with extra air induction for the hot times) |

What is the consensus on Fujita? Reputation? Quality?
The gains on the web look tasty. How bad is the performance degradation in the summer?

Best mod: take the damn charcoal filter out of the stock airbox. That will get you a good junck of the sound and the power of an aftermarket exhaust.
Keep the OEM filter though - those aftermarket ones are a waste of $$$

Until the engine gets hot and you're eating under hood heat into your engine and you loose horsepower.
I went with the Dinan. They do a TON of R&D before they sell anything. It pulls cold air in from low down on the front bumper (exactly the same as the new M3). They also use a drop-in K&N filter and remove the charcoal element. Yes, it is expensive and doesn't give you the "sound" of hp, but it delivers.

You can upgrade the filter with an aFe oiled or dry setup, that would offer better flow and easy to maintain. You can also replace the intake with the Simota CF setup that we carry, this is nice if you want a complete cone filter replacement with built in heat shield. aFe also makes a solid full intake replacement for these cars.

AFE Stage 2 intake. Heat shield and replaces the whole factory box.

So you are removing the stock filter and leaving the box empty? You noticed sound improvement and performance gains?

Also mine caused my engine to run lean and lead to a bunch of problems so I have it off the car for now until I figure out what I want to do, I might buy the PBX which would make the engine run more rich so maybe they'll balance out ![]() |

theres a DIY posted so you can follow that to cut the charcoal filter out. Acceleration feels a little less lagged. Most intakes seem like a waste of money, however that BMW Performance one looks amazing, thats where I would go if i wanted to spend money on one... but for a couple hundred more I would rather get the performance exhaust system.

I just removed my charcoal filter today and after driving for 30 or 40 miles I can say that the sound is a little better, the performance feels superior to stock and even superior to the Injen intake (but the sound of the Injen is worth it if you ask me) but the performance stays consistent after back to back acceleration runs just like stock.
