The new models lose me at the rear quater panels to the rear. Not beefy enough. I loved the backs of the late 80s early 90. |

iv driven the new gt500 along with an 07 gt500 and ill tell you, these cars are a joke. Whoever said these handle as well as our cars youve clearly never driven one, they weigh 4000lbs and you can really feel it in the corners, in the end the gt500 isnt even a true shelby, carol had absolutly nothing to do with the styling and for 60k ill keep my c6 zo6 and walk these all day long

if your gonna lie, at least make it believable, nobody can drive a 500-800hp car and not be impressed

I often find myself coming back to this website and i dont know why. Its a shame that people on here who have enough money to afford cars like m3s, c63s , Porsche's , etc. SIMPLY put down the Mustang because it isn't the same status as a Porsche. The truth is for the price you pay you get A LOT of car. From the factory these cars do suffer many limitations. However go put 2grand in suspension parts in a Mustang , and with that LOWLY solid rear axle and all. It can pull over 1g on a skid pad , do a slalom at over 75 mph , and handle just as good around a racetrack as an 0hhhh SO000 prestige M3. And whoever thinks GT500S are a joke. PLEASE contact me if you live in South Florida and go have a run with my buddy's Whipple'd GT500 ! That car will rip an M6'S face off , and eat your 997 for lunch!!!

Hmm and why is that? Harsh transmission, steering was not tight on any of the cars, they felt heavy and cheap. lots of rattle and the interior was awful. The power was nice but the car was not impressive. Test drove them at the end of the summer and once again I was NOT impressed, lastly none of the cars had 800hp.

OK so because its a FORDDDD its now OBSOLETE. Your right they haven't made some of the worlds most brilliant cars. That are STILL among the most iconic cars today ... Just to name a few . Original Cobra . GT40. Current Ford GT. Classic 1965 GT500 . Cobra Jet. Comon the list goes on.. And your figures are off. They cost about $50k brand new, and they weight between 3600- 3800lbs not 4000 and above. And AGREED the handling may not feel on par with an M3, however it was stated before that the new 2011 GT, laid down on par times with an M3. Surely the GT driver may have been a bit better, but no matter which way you cut it ,that's still impressive . I cant say it enough . The 2010 models are VASTLY improved over the 05-09 models. I do find it hard to believe that you have driven a 2010 GT500 . And were UNIMPRESSED with the car overall for the low price of $50k. If you were unimpressed with the performance then i STRONGLY advise you to drive a GT500 with BASIC bolt ons because truth be told.... a Stock GT500 is practically ASLEEP at 540hp.

Always love the mustang engines but i wished they threw out the "throw back redneck" styling and got a bit more sporty looking.

I test drove an 09. the 10 model 0-60 in 4.3 not that impressive for 540bhp but it is quick. http://wot.motortrend.com/6502298/au...ore/index.html The 09 4.5 0-60 like i said NOT IMPRESSED!!!! lol "According to a road test in the July 2006 issue of Car and Driver magazine, the boys from Ann Arbor clocked their Shelby GT500 at 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds with the quarter-mile at 12.9 seconds. Although the Challenger SRT8 is quick, it does appear as though the Shelby GT500 is the faster of the two." Very expensive, the ones on the lot were more then this on too. http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...5&aff=national Lastly i LIKE mustangs. So please stop taking it personal. I hate the 05-09 models, if the 10 models are that much better I would love to buy one. |

Alright. I see the problem here. You haven't been in a tuned GT500. And like i stated before they are ASLEEP in factory form. At the supposed 540bhp( In reality most of them dyno between 420-450 whp.Which really doesn't equate too 540bhp.)The blowers are only pushing out 5-6 psi from the factory. Meaning the blower is putting out less then HALF its potential. So by simply adding an intake, tune , pulley, idlers, and spark plugs GT500'S usually pick up anywhere from 120-145 RWHP! This gives you an idea of just how limited these cars are from the factory. If you really are considering possibly purchasing a new mustang. I would tell you to skip the GT and go str8 for the GT500. If only you were local so i could take you for a ride in one ![]() Heres some food for thought. |
