2D18 code received.

earlier today I was fooling around with my car WOT, power slides and the like. this was the hardest I've pushed the car.

I scanned the car and got, 2D18 manipulation cover, max. air mass - External Tuning Box Detected. This was the very first time to receive a significant error, aside front the usual "flap" actuator error I get.
I have the JB+ @100%.

Yes, I know this is not a good code for dealership reasons, So I cleared it.

Is this the proper action to take.? Any worries?
I'm just glad I have a BT cable

When you run Jbplus at 100% you will get tuner codes and yes just clear it and remember to check codes before you go to the dealer if you keep it at 100%.

You were supposed to print it out first and then mail it to BMW corporate with a copy of your vin and license plate.

Oh really, That doesn't seem like a good idea.

Are you guys new or something? Thought everyone knew this already. Just cover the shark fin with aluminum foil and then wrap with duck tape to defeat unauthorized transmissions to BMWHQ.

I taped a chicken pot pie aluminum plate over mine.

My friend said it only includes those with the recent software update. I have the older version. He's also not sure if this signal to HQ is true.

How do you know that this would work? I was past due on my first check-up and never received a notice that i needed to go in for an oil change.

Dude, we are joking.

If you did use aluminum foil over your shark fin transponder, you would have all sorts of problems. I would guess that your NAV and SAT radio would not receive. Also, if the shark fin houses the high-power cellular unit for BMW Assist functionality, the foil would probably fry the RF amplifier due to the radiated power reflecting back into the unit.
