ETS FMIC with dataloged IAT's
My setup running full stage 3 with the procede, have a DCI.
Running a ETS intercooler Did a datalog run of 2-3-4 gears at WOT outside temp. was: 50 degrees Starting IAT temp was: 75 at 5800 rpms in 4th gear the IAT was: 105 avg. psi was 15.5 what you think???? |

Probably shaved off 50 degrees compared to the stock intercooler.
Time for meth IMO. Your IATs will not cross 85 degrees after that in the same three-gear pull and you will be able to run more advance. Here is a similar 2-3-4 WOT run spraying meth (70/30 mix) boosting around 15 psi. Stock intercooler, 91 octane.

based on your graph vs mine....the Helix unit is doing a far better job.
YOu had a 25 degree advantage in ambient temps and probably lower humidity, we ended up around the same point at the end of our runs.

105F at an ambient of 50F is not very good to be honest. With that said, once you add methanol a lot of the intercooler choice becomes considerably less relevant.

When I ran my aftermarket VK intercooler last year, IAT's were almost flatline from start to end of pull. (see blue line in graph below). So yeah......your numbers don't look so good as far as IAT. On the flipside, your datalog looks great otherwise. Timing curves and boost look really good. [IMG][/IMG] |

I was only doing 3rd, so I would have less temperature rise than you, but it is a long pull as I am starting at a lower rpm. But even on your graph your temperature rise is over 10F going from 2nd into 3rd. You are in 50F ambients, while I was in the high 70's ambients, so you had the advantage there. But I still think you have too much rise for an aftermarket intercooler. When I did longer multi gear pulls, my IAT's did not rise more than 10F with an aftermarket unit. Helix seems to be one of the favourites and I think it is a good choice from all the logs I have seen in the past. Last edited by Ilma; 03-08-2010 at 12:11 PM.. |
