Meth/E85
I attempted to search the topic and did not find much info. Most topics seemed to be centered about meth injection alone.
I know a lot of guys have run meth w e85 getting great results with other cars. Has anybody done this with success with the N54? I imagine the stock pumps would not like it much? Or, maybe so? Thoughts? PS: Maybe this is the secret to the higher trap speeds? lol Last edited by UAP1; 03-19-2010 at 06:51 PM.. |

I've seen meth and MS 109 and works wonders. I'd be scared to do meth + e85......don't want anything going boom. A buddy of mine blew his motor 2 weeks ago at Sac Raceway in his STi using e85 (and too much boost)

I am hearing two sides to it. Like anything, not done right with no fail safes and bad tune = boom. Done right. Can give some nutty results. I have a friend that runs it on his 03 Cobra. He only has exhaust..pulley..and ported blower. He smokes cars with KB's and Whippled blowers all day. A ported blower should not even be close. His sandbag factor is the e85/meth. I also know guys that have done this for years on their builds across many makes and models. People always left wondering why that car with less mods left them by 4 car lengths. That is why I am wondering if this is what some have been experimenting with and not telling everybody. |

Also, are you saying some people are running 109 with meth w the N54? If I understand it right...e85 is more like 105? I would think the 109 would be as much risk as the e85. With either I know you can add much more boost and timing. I also know you will max out injectors and fuel pumps pretty quick in stock form (with most makes and models) The 335i seems to have limiting factors with the fuel pump and injectors to begin with...? These are just my thoughts. I am curious at what other people have found with the topic. I found it odd and interesting it has not been discussed too much....yet... I have only had my car less than a week and been around the N54 platform for that same short period. Last edited by UAP1; 03-20-2010 at 10:35 PM.. |

I know from personal experience 105, 109, and 110 leaded all work very well with tuned cars. Been to the track and used all of the above and have no negative side effects 44k miles later. Just make sure you are using the proper map with the tune when running these higher octanes.

In general e85 requires 30-40% more system capacity then traditional gas alone.
The n54 fuel system at high power most likely doesn't have enough fuel capacity to accommodate e85. When tuned for correctly, e85 is an a fantastic fuel... I have tuned many VERY high horsepower car with it. Heres an example of a recent tune . http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/9...ml#post2738855 |

Sounds like with the limiting factors of the fuel pump and injectors. Somebody needs to come up with a full e85 conversion (with upgraded fuel pump and injectors). Add the upgraded turbos people have been working on with that...I see 10's all day long in the future! |

Yea I was using a JB3 with those octanes and I let it adapt for a few miles before getting on the car hard and using it on the track. Either PnP tune will adapt and it's highly recomended to let your car adapt before racing it or it could cause some damage.
