Dragtimes.com Etiquette?

Hi Folks,

Just wondering if there could be some dragtimes.com etiquette?

I noticed the front page has 20 entries ... 6 by Hotrod_182 and 3 by Shiv.

We all know the both of you are fast and can run every single hundredth below your fastest times.

Is there any chance they can pull down their older runs to give us some diversity on the landing page?

Thank,

Junk

I think it's a matter of mods. Meth vs. no meth. N2O vs. no N2O...

I agree and disagree with you.

I did actually have them pull some of my runs that were redundant. But most of mine posted are on different maps, different versions/hardware, and 2 different cars. Hence the different postings, so as to be informative. Keep in mind, I don't go to the drag strip and post 6 different runs from that day, LOL.

It is also very important to keep my 11.78 "engine tune only" record posted, as besides the JB3, that was done with such remarkably minimal modifications. That trap would actually be 122.56mph by todays Sacramento Drag strip standards. (It read .60mph slower than the Vbox back then, compared to 2.5mph faster than the Vbox today).

I don't know if Shiv has posted same slips on the same V4 configuration or not, you will have to ask him.

I also think that part of the etiquette is naming the driver as the actual person that drove the car.
So, for example, since Shiv is borrowing your car and you are planning on posting the slips then he should be the name next to the slip.

People should take off their 1/8th mile times to free up more 1/4 passes on the first page. Nobody cares about the 1/8th.

You are correct. It does say "Driver", not car owner in the last column.

Yup ... i agree on the driver part. I would prefer that Shiv NOT post any results from my car.

The different configuration makes sense, but it would better if the description was a bit more informative instead of having to dig into each one.

I noticed you posted your slips. http://www.dragtimes.com/BMW-335i-Timeslip-20630.html

It still lists you as the driver or CO driver? Also I noticed that most of the other cars have very detailed lists of modifications, weight removal, etc, but your listing and Shiv's listing have almost no detail. Several mods I read about on the forum are not mentioned there. Maybe it was just missed in the excitement but to the independent observer it's comes across as shady.

Also to your point you forgot to remove the old slip with the same setup. http://www.dragtimes.com/BMW-335i-Timeslip-20582.html

Hi SpecialSauce,

I asked Shiv to pull down all my runs and the runs he has made on my car.

I will repost when I'm ready to. As far as all the other details, they are in my signature.

I do remove the passenger seat, but nothing else (i still run the stock wheels and RFTs on the fronts).

You seem to list everything here which was why the slip posting confused me. Glad you took care of it though. I'd also like to see times condensed to that there is no more than one driver per page and their slips are under that driver. Maybe we should ask the site if they can do it?

Are you kidding?!?!?! You might as well not even quote trap speeds from there any more. They are way out of line. The vBox should show ~1mph HIGHER trap than the actual track shows due to it using the average of the last 66ft.

Just curious why all the hating on Sacramento. There are also the "fast" tracks in the East Coast.

As long as it is documented where you ran your times, then people will have the full disclosure.

The only reason is because the traps on the slip are faster than the instantaneous speed at the 1/4 from the vbox.
There's no way that the speed at the 1/4 should be slower than the average speed of the last 60', which is the way the traps are figured at the strip.

What would be interesting if people around the US performed comparisons from the vbox and the track to see if Sac is just out there or if other tracks are showing the same.

No matter what, unless anything changes, then everybody that goes to Sac will benefit so it's not just one sided. And, I'm sure that people on the east coast have mine shaft conditions with their tracks over there so they shouldn't have any complaints.

Very true. Some tracks are just "faster" than others. MIR is one example that comes to mind....very "fast"

Also conditions on the same track, on different days can make a big difference as well, and I am not just talking about DA.... how about tailwind/ headwind..

I am not a big believer in VBOX/GTEK numbers, but it seems like a lot of members here use them a lot... I think of them more as tuning tools, kinda like a dyno or what not...

As far as the DRAGTIMES thing goes, it is helpful to have multiple entries IF there are changes in the car's modifications. Can show what each mod/set of mods can do for the car.

And the DRIVER of the car is always recognized. The owner can be noted in the cars description if need be..
