My car is a 2008 and I have about 32k miles on it, so it's still under warrantly.

I've just recently killed all of my cats (read: I installed catless downpipes and exhaust). I'm assuming, at this point, that my PROcede is the only reason I'm not seeing a CEL or throwing a code. I am not going to go back to stock, period. I don't have my stock downpipes, so it's just not a possibility. I'm starting to wonder if I should still take my car into the dealership for minor maintenance items such as bulbs burning out or brake pad replacement.

I know each dealership/SA deals with modifications differently, so I made it a point to ask my SA about the dealership's stance on modifications. He essentially said that mods wouldn't prevent warranty work being done, as long as the problems were unrelated to the mods. If anything went wrong with the motor, however, the blame would most likely be placed on my mods and the work would not be done under warranty. P.S. I understand the whole Magnussen Moss Warranty Act thinger, so there's no need to explain that to me. What that law/act SAYS and what the dealership actually DOES are usually two entirely different things.

Regardless, at this point I only have two viable options when I take the car to the dealership. A) Remove the PROcede (which is what I've been doing), or B) keep the PROcede in the car. Previously, there has been no reason to choose B, but now I'm worried about the codes that I will throw when I remove the PROcede on my catless car.

Let's say my fuel pump dies on me in 1k miles... what's better:

1) Removing my PROcede and taking my car into the dealership with a CEL (I'm assuming this is what will happen when I remove the PROcede) and explaining to them that I have no cats.

or

2) Keeping the PROcede in the car and hoping they don't notice (HA!) that I'm catless.

Both seem sort of stupid, IMO, and I'm assuming that the dealership would "figure it out" in either case and would refuse to replace my HPFP under warranty (even though they KNOW that a catless exhaust and FMIC isn't the cause of the never-ending HPFP issues). I guess I'm looking for the lesser of two evils. I'm leaning towards #1, because from what I've read, taking my car to the dealership with the tune IN THE CAR is really the worst thing I could possibly do, and that most likely will void my warranty entirely.

In the end, I guess I'm wondering if any of you guys have had to get major warranty work done on your catless 335. Please let me know, thanks.

rofl, I guess I should have been more specific and less ... dumb. When I said I killed my cats, I just meant that I went with catless downpipes and a catless exhaust. i.e. I removed all of my cats.

I actually did murder my downpipes, though. They are in pieces in a landfill, somewhere. That's why it's not really an option for me to go back to stock.

Being catless will not necessarily void your warranty. Like you conceded the problem has to be traced back to the mod. I would take the procede off, because that is automatic void. You are basically rolling the dice with either option, but IMO, you would be better off going without a tune, because being catless is not AUTOMATIC void, the Procede is. Tough choice you got there!

I'd for sure throw a set of sims in while I was removing the Procede before taking it to the dealer. You can pick up the gen1 sims for like $40 shipped, then still sell them later (I'll be selling mine very soon when I install my adjustable ones).

Btw that still may not work if you are having any drivetrain work done. My dealer still "voided" my warranty just for my dps when I began having hpfp issues. But they later reinstituted my hpfp warranty after I challenged them that my dps had nothing to do with the known faulty hpfp's. Still, if you are known to have a tune you really cant fight and win any warranty battle, whereas you probably would with just dps.

It take a bit of driving to trigger catalyst conversion codes when NOT running an o2 sim. And dealerships rarely drive a car car more than around the block. So I think you'd be fine to just remove the Procede and nothing more.

I have been getting calls from the dealership for my regularly scheduled oil change. I really do not want to return to stock but am worried about throwing codes if I remove the procede.

Would i be able to change the oil myself and reset the service indicator using the BT Tool. Would this create warranty issues as I am sure they could see that I didn't visit a dealership to have it done.

you can change the oil yourself, but be sure to buy the BMW Castrol oil and use an OEM oil filter, you can reset the oil change notice on your car, but I don't know if I would go so far as to reset the service indicator with the BT tool.

You can always say that you like to change the oil more often than the dealership will under warranty (which is a valid reason anyway), but you don't want to have to pay the dealer the high price to do it

When you say remove your Procede, do you mean just put it in Valet mode, or physically take it out?
