I have a 2009 328 coupe with sport package. It has only 1200 ( twelve hundred) miles on it. I was shocked to notice the outside edges of the front tires starting to cup. The insides are fine and both front tires have the same amount of cupping. You cant see it but can feel it when running your hand across. I took it back to the Dealer and the S A said his 3 Series became real noticeable at 5 K miles and it is the Bridgestone tires not the alignment. I told him just do an alignment and I would pay for it if BMW refused to. He assured me that i would be wasting my money and that it was the tires. To me it seems like a toe in condition would be causing this. The S A said most of the new 3 series are coming with PS 2s and don't have that problem. If what he says is true you got to be kidding. Almost 60 K for some of the loaded 335s out there and P O S tires like that. I have read that the tires dont last, ride like rocks etc. My car has never been flogged so I am wondering if anyone else has seen this problem so early on .... Thanks

my originals never had this issue, was the re050a's not sure if you have the turanza's or not. I believe there was a class action suit against them, do a search if you want more info on that

Had the same issue when I bought my pre-owned 335i with 34,000 miles on the tires from a used sales lot (non-BMW). The fronts were cupped and one even had a bubble in the side of one. This was found at the BMW dealership when I took it there for an inspection. Went back and told the dealership put new tires on the front or the deal is off! They complied and put a fresh set of Bridgestones on and car rode much better.
Will be switching to the Michelins ASAP as everyone has great comments about their RFTs. The dealership is doing right even after the fact by offering me 40% off Tire Rack price on my new set of tires when these wear out or I decide to change them out. Who sez all used car dealers are crooks... |

i think the class action law suit was for the non sport RTF tires. i could be wrong but i remember reading about that too. My car also shows cupping and i have the bridgestones also!

I have the same problem too. The RE050a II RFT on the sports package isn't covered under the TSB. I suspect its a combination of the tires and how the car's suspension is set up that causes this. My tires have about 7k on them. Meh...

mine were cupping too. I convinced BMW to do an alignment for me (I had bought CPO and had about 3000 kms on it when I went back to complain) to help with the issue (it turned out it was a bit misaligned). I also asked them to move the right front tire to the left side etc. Since the tires arent directional this was possible. It helped fix the cupping, but i'm sure its happening still and i'll have to swap them again.

The Bridgestones are a POS. I blew my right rear tire @20k miles. Severe cupping and wearing. I switched to Michelins and couldn't be happier ![]()

same here, had one blow out 3000 miles after i purchased a cpo. took it to the dealership since i had the tire insurance. Dealer denied claim because of alignment was bit off and uneven tread wear. Asked for full refund of T.I. and went to Costco and got 4 new BF goodrich KDW.s and have never been happier. Night and day difference. Its been 18k miles and tread looks like i got them yesterday.
