I find this hard to believe. I've seen plenty of supercharged/turbo M's and it's big bucks, where as the 335 already has the platform.

Take a look at stage 3 from HPF, which is what about $40K? Though I'd love to have that engine on an e46 M.

One would be naive to think BMW couldn't find out if they wanted to. The question is, do they want to dig or do they just check with a first pass and move on?

There is no question the data is stored in some way. The extraction of that data and the effort it would take is another story.

This is why I am choosing to remain stock for now. Not really worth it to me.
