so how come the e90 sportsline ones have different part no. to the 1 series.

its only 2 digits difference though!!

3 Series E90 (390) Saloon 325i, 330i, 318d, 320d 01/05>
Product Code : E20-20-014-02-22

1 Series E81 (187) 116i, 118i, 120i 09/04>
Product Code : E20-20-013-01-22

but the 'stamping' numbers for front and rear springs are the same for 1 series and the 3 series.... weird!!

can anyone else shed any light??

I would think highly unlikely as they are completely different cars.

The kit number for the E90 has been done away with now it's the same for both also the 1 and 3 have the same spring set up.

H&R list the same springs for both
http://www1.carparts-cat.com/webkat....2107004&ROOT=1

Raf555 the spring kit you listed for the 1 series is for the 116i 118i 120i not 118d 120d etc.

Yes they will, as long as the engine is of the same type (120d 320d) eibach make different spring rates for different engine sizes for both of these cars but H&R use the same spring for them all.
If you have any doubt about the springs give eibach or H&R a call.
