(Paging Jaykay) Why are my ears really sensitive sometimes?

Often enough to annoy me my ears (usually just one at a time) are really sensitive, not to noises or anything, but just sitting here I can feel it, also it's very sensitive to touch. Pain is like maybe a 1.5 out of 10 but it's pretty distracting. I don't have any jewelry in them or anything

Anyone got anything?

Maybe you are secretly a bunny. Or a mammal with sensitive ears.

Nope no ringing...no exposure to loud noises or anything like that. It's my actual cartilage that hurts, most intensely on the inner part

have you seen your primary care dr? I work at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and can hook you up with a good dr if you want (primary care or ear specialist).

Nope...it's intermittent enough to where I haven't made a special appt but will bring it up next physical. It's just back today for the first time in like a month and annoying me

Is that the one in Arlington Heights? If so, excellent facility. Brought the GF into the ER for severe stomach pain a couple months ago...she was told everything from gastritus (sp?) to stop drinking coffee by her Dr.'s in Austria and NYC previously. They found a 6cm ovarian cyst

Its the cartilage that hurts? Not sensitivity to sound or anything like that?

Got me. Could be from sleeping on it funny. Cartilage isn't very well innervated when it comes to blood vessels and most of the nutrients diffuse in/out, which is why it takes so long to grow/regrow/heal. Maybe you're sleeping on it and the pressure is causing a decreased outflow, increasing metabolic waste, causing pain.

Just wild theories. Its not indicative of any disease I've ever heard of.

You may be right, it always seems to cure itself. Like right now, it's 90% gone, but this morning I had trouble concentrating. Maybe I need to switch pillows or something

inb4 Collins... Damn we good.

It sounds like Calliflower ear, aka that shit that wrestlers get. If you've ever wrestled and had you ear squished on the mat that is what it feels like.

I agree with switching your pillow/ sleeping position test it out before seeing a doctor and him telling you the same shit.

It wouldn't be the same as what wrestlers get.

But yeah, probably something to do with sleeping on the side of your head, possibly on your hand or moving your head and squishing your ear a little. Try sleeping on your back. I think I've had the same type of symptoms before and they tend to just resolve on their own.
