POLL - ever heard of a/d/s/ car audio?

Just curious... interested in your honest, from-the-hip reaction, thanks (without Googling it!)

a/d/s, back in the day, was awesome stuff. I've been out of the scene for about 10+ years, but in the mid '90's a/d/s was benchmark equipment. I'm not so sure they are still producing anything.

Yup...

Good amps & speakers back in the day. Nice audiophile gear.

great old school amps
in my humble opinion, second only to Soundstream
the PH15, was a kick ass amp back in the day
not as tough as the Soundstreams, but equal quality i would say
i hope this means they are making a comeback??
it's a shame we lost all these good brands
now all we have is class D crap

As others have already mentioned, the original a/d/s gear was reference quality however, the company was sold to PPI sometime before the millenium and then when PPI was bought by DEI, a/d/s went to DEI with them. Not long after that, the a/d/s brand died but their signature products had stopped long before that. Some of the better stuff can still be found floating around various audio forums and even ebay. I know there is a former a/d/s employee selling off some leftover inventory which is brand new on ebay which is how I got my 344is and px concept tweeters. As far as amps, most everything found on the market will be used as the amp line died well before the speaker line.

a/d/s made some pretty good stuff back in the 90s. I did a custom stereo using their components back then on my Volvo... brings back good memories.

Just because it bugs me, the brand was a/d/s/, all lower case and a slash after each letter. No upper case at all. It stood for analog and digital systems.

Damn I miss some of their stuff.

My best car audio setup was built in 1995. Two a/d/s/ 10" subs in individual balsa composite sealed boxes powered by two Soundstream Reference 500s amps and four MB Quart 6" mids/tweets powered by a PPI PCX-480.

I still have the subs and the Soundstream in the garage somewhere.

I loved a/d/s. I powered them with Soundstream/ppi amps back in the day. People were all about MB Quarts and I ran a/d/s. I preferred their much warmer sound. The MBs sounded harsh and bright to me.
