We all have comfort access!
OK well not really, you only have comfort access if you've paid for it! Nice warm day today so when I got home a few hours ago I parked up and done a few things in the garage/garden, the car was unlocked with all the windows down and twice while I was passing by it made a sound like it makes when you pull a door handle to get in (both mirrors click- I think this is the folding mirrors checking their position) the start/stop button also lit up as did the " P " on the auto box and the dvd drive woke up...Ive checked for sure my key wasnt wedged in my pocket and pressing itself...so the car knows if the key is coming near...retro fit comfort access on the way!?

On the subject of doing odd things, washing a car with comfort access with the key in your pocket is peculiar. Every time water runs over the handle or you brush against it with the mitt, the car locks or unlocks - the first few times it was a case of - what's going on?

I've got comfort access on mine and does the BMW system lock the doors if the key is inside the car ie. if you brush against the door handle sensor?
Mine does but you only have to touch the door handle to unlock the doors again. Panicked first time this happened as I wasn't sure the doors would unlock, but I'm assuming as the key is within the required distance to operate the comfort access it's why the doors unlocked again. |

Mine does these symptoms as well. I actually had a post on it a while back. Just keep your key in the house or garage when washing. I thought my car was freaking out too.
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=336725 I don't think it is anything to worry about.

If you leave the key in the car in the BMW, it just won't lock.
Also, if you leave the key in the boot and shut the boot, it bleeps plaintively at you and unlocks the boot again. |
