Replacing Blackline bulbs - LEDs?

Hey guys,

I am going to install the blacklines, and was wondering about changing the bulbs out to make the colors more crisp.

I was wondering if all the the taillights are monitored by ECU? For example, can I replace my back-up lights with LED plug-ins? (like these below)

http://autolumination.com/1156_1157.htm

Would I have to add resistors? I hve noticed the issues with adding resistors, but I could not tell if the bulbs were the same plug and play type....

Poop. I wanted brighter rear lights. I had no problems with the Jetta.... guess that is the 'burden' of owning a BMW.

Actually, what is the big deal with the error message you get with the lights? Is it a general error, or is it specific for lights?

I think the next generation lights are coming. Saw some info on it from the 2008 5 series sport (?). Don't quote me on it tho. I'd say it may trickle down to the 3 series soon or someone in China reverse engineer it and start selling it on ebay....and we have to pay an extra $50 for shipping.
