If you have no front plate, can the stoplight camera catch you?

I made a right turn on red, and saw a stoplight camera flash. I think it was trying to nab me. I dont have a front plate. Do they catch you with another picture from the rear?

Not sure about CA but in IL (a front plate state) they take a pic of your interior (your face) and your rear plate

depends if you're doing a rolling stop then yes...they'll even have a vid of it. They'll send you a ticket with a link to the website and citation # needed to see the vid

Well my understanding is that it takes like 5 pics really fast or something, to determine if you stopped, or just ran it. I've never gotten one, and usually slow down to at least 10 MPH. Got a bunch of photo speeding in AZ/Cali though.

Yea I never paid for any of them cuz my lawyer informed me that by law after 3 months the tickets are automatically dropped. That's for AZ, not sure about IL

they usually have camera in the front and on the back. It usually records you when you are turning. If it is not 6 seconds complete stop then you are screwed. I know someone who turned in 5 seconds and still had to pay the ticket. Was $500. Hard to fight in court too because there is a recording of you in HD quality.

6s complete stop? Really? That seems a bit high.

What gets a lot of people on 'right turn on red' scenarios is: 1) you're supposed to stop before the intersection and 2) not coming to a complete stop. The intersection is usually defined by the white line that runs across the lane.

Unfortunately, sometimes there are trees or bushes blocking view of oncoming traffic or the cars next to you stop too far forward or the line is too far behind the actual intersection. I always stop behind the white line (completely) then creep forward to where I can see. To date (knock on wood) I've yet to set off a camera for a right turn and I go thru several cameras daily.

up here its just coming to a complete stop, then, if the way is clear, you can just go . no forced waiting period. (for right turns on reds)

It's the same here. The law in my state says that all forward momentum must cease, but after that you're free to turn right on red.

You always get nailed from the back. And nothing 'triggers' the camera; they start rolling after light is about to turn yellow. An operator checks the footage, and if a violation was committed, a local police officer signs the violation and it's sent to the address of record. At least that's the way they operate here in TX. And no, they don't have to take your picture here. If you claim you weren't driving the car, you have to provide them with name and address of the 'perpetrator'. My wife got nabbed once, by rolling like at 0.5 mph with zero traffic, when a cop in front rolled even quicker. They're robbery IMO.

to lazy to read what other above me wrote but in CA the cameras some how are able to take pics of your front and rear of the car. So they have two shots at the vehicle incase one is unclear, so chances are you got your plate made.
