do guns work after being soaked?

i just started watching Lost a little while back (yeah, I'm late :P), and i noticed they are always using the guns in rain or after they were fully submersed. would a soaking gun work? just curious (ie. after its out of the water, but its still wet). i thought you'd have to dry it out first or something. I know you can fire under water but that's usually only one round.

Yes, as long as they are not soaked in salt water, and rusted tight.

Soaking was actually used back in WWII by the military to clean them. Soapy water! First time I heard it, I didn't believe it.

Really depends on how the gun is designed. On YouTube search for "over the beach test" to see what I'm talking about.

The gun may work but the primer of the round may not.

I clean my flintlock with soapy water.

Depends on the duration of the soak and the quality of the ammo. Rounds with sealed primers would probably be good to go even after days of soaking.

Yup.

I've stress tested glocks in frozen water, soaked, etc and no failures with quality handloads.

I need a new carry gun and though I love my Glock 20, I kinda want an HK 45c...thoughts?

They are nice, just pricey.

I like Walther PPK's as a carry pistol. You can find a used one for $300 then by a overhaul kit (Springs, etc.) for cheap and bam you're a baller!

For a carry pistol it really needs to be small so that you don't wimp out on carrying it.

Or if what you are wearing is not adequate to conceal you standard CCW.

In the Winter I CC bigger pistols, 1911's bigger Glocks, etc, but in the summer when its hot and I'm in a T-shirt I am less likely to carry a bigger pistol.

If you want a H&K get a USP Compact.

So I'd had two guns that you would be willing to CC. A bigger pistol with more round capacity and stopping power, then a nice smaller pistol with reliability.

That's why I carry a G19 and a Walther PPK. Both excellent guns.

Hmm, I do like the USP Compact. I carry my G20 in the winter and it's an absolute pig of a gun but hey, 15 rounds of 10mm...

...maybe I'll consider a UMP 45 under a trench coat

The AK47 is primitive crap, BUTTTTTT thats what makes it a great gun. Ive seen tests. That damn thing works in mud, water you name it. Definitely not the best rifle out there but its probably one of, if not the toughest
