Squeaking drivers seat
My drivers seat is squeaking so badly that it's driving me nuts!
The car is still under warranty but the Stealer claims that there is not problem. All the mechanics are about 5 stone lighter than me which probably explains it!!! It seems to be much worse where there is a lot of speeding up and slowing down as my huge bulk puts it under strain. Does anybody have any top tips on where I can lubricate it or is it simply a case of me losing some weight? It's a cloth seat so can't even blame the leather. |

They are basic cloth manual SE seats with no heating. The noise is much more noticeable when driving slowly around town and doesn't happen on the motorway.

mine had similar i think from memory i removed the seat (make sure you dont turn the ignition on while the seat is unplugged or the airbag light will come on) and sprayed all the hinges on the seat with wd or a silicone spray

I had a bit of a fiddle around with it (and the seat) while I was in traffic and it seems to be the plastic moulding near where the seat belt connects to the seat. I think that I'll ask my local dealer to just replace the whole thing and see if that makes any difference. Might let them "refresh" my air-conditioning as a sweetener.

Same problem with mine, found the plastic trim that covers the runners (open the door look at the runner that sits below the drivers seat, looking from outside the car, there is a black plastic cover about 10" long, pull it up hard and it comes off) try it without it fitted, it it fixes it just re-fit it and puch down hard-noise gone.

My M Sport leather seats used to creak - it was the seat belt rubbing on the edge of the seat bolster.
Regarding seat frame lubing - I would get a general service spray (WD40 might be a little too thin) and raise the seat to it's highest position and spray each joint with the aerosol (with the little red straw) and this will sort your problem. Also as has been said, check the mounting bolts are secure.

Did you manage to solve the problem mate?
My seats are really starting to annoy me now. The seats make a noise when i accelerate or brake. I'm not sure where exactly the noise is coming from but i think it is from the back part, which seems to move slightly backwards or forward when accelerating and braking. The creaking can be heard pretty much all of the time when driving around town at lower speeds and is quite embarassing when i have friends in the car and the seats are creaking. Does anyone know if squeaking seats are covered under the BMW AUC warranty? |

The rubbers in the drivers door are also creaking like b*ggery even though I have treated them with Gummi Pledge. All very annoying |
