And stop trying to confuse the issue by posting screenshot of DIMsport software that Terry sent you. He/you made a claim. The claim is untrue. I have proof. Shall I post it?

That testing can't isolate all of the variables that contribute to the maximum advance set point. For example your testing indicates 10.5 degrees is the maximum advance set point @ 5500rpm yet we've seen higher posted. Looking at the actual DME mapping is required to fully understand the timing mapping. Despite that even your limited testing showed 2 degrees lower from 90F to 160F so it doesn't seem were very far off.

If you recall I posted same car same boost level logs during 90 degree ambient weather last year. One with the JB3 the other with the PROcede at 100% ignition correction. The cars both say 150-160 degree inlet temps. That testing showed both ran an almost identical final timing curve going as low as 0-2 degrees at peak boost.

You've seen higher timing values due to poor boost targeting. When you have a negative boost error (dme boost target is greater than actual boost target), you will see a higher ignition timing target because the DME believes that full boost has not yet been achieved. The downside is that this perceived underboost condition will result in an underboost code if sustained for too long.

In the case of V4, as you know, boost rel="" target=actual boost. This means that we can rule out this variable. Other variables that have an effect on ignition timing target include coolant and oil temp which were also monitored to be within +/-10 deg F.

Doesn't apply. Please understand that that, in my tests, I ruled out the possibility of knock retard/learning by running only 11psi, at full ignition correction, with a good sized nozzle of methanol flowing at max pressure.

If you can think of any variable that I didn't take into account, let me know. I can easily test again. As can you or anyone else on this forum.

Missing features of the JB3

Excellent information on the thread.
Just moving to AZ in nov. from chicago. Huge fan of AZ today is the first day where I admit F**k its straight HOT today 115, and the coming months should be perfect dyno testing days if needed.

Mike, from what I can tell you just resell the JB3, i hope you aren't offended. BMS puts you in a tough spot by not being as responsive as you. Advantage is you can add products at anytime being on the resale side.

Shiv, I can see why some ppl feel you may go to far. Being in sales myself to me I see confidence in product and its good to see hard data, and commitment to the forums, fast response builds confidence.
Telling me that people have ran it in the desert before doesnt really convince me that there are safe measures in place to prevent damage.

Guys this is the conversation I wanted to see on this thread this is all great information. I was only considering JB3 and GIAC before, looks like I need to look into vishnu more, and revisit the sticky comparison chart.

I noticed it seems the JB3 is popular on the boards and videos, but it's missing the following with I "think" are relevant to a desert car?
  1. knock status
  2. AFR monitor
  3. ignition advance
  4. oil temp sensor
  5. Throttle Blade position
  6. water temp

Maybe the sticky chart is outdated, or I don't have enough technical knowledge to understand why its not needed? http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=374508

Looking to learn and better understand why these features are or not important/relevant!?

Welcome to AZ, I live in the north west valley however I plan on moving to the east side next year. I ran the procede when it was in the 90's but not for the last few months.
