quick question on tints

When people say something like 35% all around, does that include the front windshield? Here in VA you can only have the top of the windshield tinted. So when people get tints all around, do they tint the top portion only? or just go illegal?

usuallyu means all windows except front windshield. some shops wont even touch the front. i would ask them and also suggest 35 is too dark for the front anyways

when I do the tint on our 335d I will do an eyebrow on the front windshield as I want it to hide the hard wired in V-1 from any officer that walks up to the car if I get pulled. Not seeing it will help me get off with a warning and an eyebrow tint across the top of the windshield will do that.

Usually the "all around" is for side and back windows. The front is illegal so they don't include that, however most shops will do it for you if you sign a waiver. Ive had the front done on all my vehicles previously with no trouble!

That sort of thing is personal taste of course, but I had a tint shop show me options and the owner showed me an eyebrow on the front windshield and said that they didn't think it was a good look in their opinion. I agreed based on the example I saw.

As others have said, 35% is on the sides and back. One issue I've had is that late at night it's harder to see cars riding in your blind spot when you have tint. I don't regret putting tint on the car, but I would never put tint on my front windshield -- ever.

I would agree it isnt the best look, but hiding the V-1 from the officer standing next to my drivers door so he doesnt see it thru the front windshield is a function over form thing and will save me $$ cause in the ticket game if they see a detector you will get a ticket, no warnings, but if they dont see the dectector I have found it to be at least 50-50 I get a warning and no ticket

I wont recommend to go all the way around with 35%. The VA state troopers are bi on tints. If I was you I would go with 50% front and 35% on the back that the legal limit. I have 20% all the way around and I have been pulled over for my tints over 6 times in one month. No tickets yet but I can see it coming. Don't get me wrong the car looks awesome with 20% but sometimes I don't need the attention from the officers when not need it. If you know what I mean.

Usually windshield tint is 50 - 75% since you have to see out of it. Of course, you can go as low as the side windows... but why? Aside from appearance, I believe people do the windshield tint for UV protection.

the reason i had gone 30% on the windshield before was because the shop i was using didnt have ceramic tint, so the 50% was shit didnt reject much heat, once i realized just how much better ceramic tint is vs metallic i switch to 50% and the 50% ceramic kept the car cooler then the 30% metalic
