NOS Octane Booster and Silkolene Pro Boost
Does this 2 give you a boost in HP or Torque?
Currently i am using both mix together (70% Nos / 30% Silkolene Pro Boost) and feed it half bottle each time before i pump my petrol (V power). But i dont really feel a difference. Am i doing it the right away? or it doesnt work the same for NA engine? |

Technically, a higher octane fuel will give you a more efficient burn leading to better performance, but usually it doesn't do anything significant in terms of hp/tq gains, at least for octane boosters. (Different case if you're using 110 race gas or jet fuel, since it's significantly higher) Some engines need higher octane gas because of higher compression or have different tunes, but usually 'recommended level' works. However, using fuel that is lower octane than that recommended by the manufacturer may cause detonation/pinging, and will severely reduce performance and affect durability.
Some people also say that using higher octane is better for the engine in terms of durability... but I really don't think it's worth it (esp with hk gas prices) Then again, I have no idea what Silkolene does, and if the nos octane booster is different from other 'octane boosters', so what I said may not matter... |

waste of money unless your car is tuned to run more advance ignition timing, also nos booster(w/mmt) leaves deposits in your combustion chamber pretty fast, you may just check your plugs to verify.

if i am not wrong the octance is suppose to increase the purity of the petrol correct?
V Power + the Octane booster = 110 race gas? Or main point is that it doesnt work on NA car? |

lol, no. not really.
the higher the octane, the more resistant the fuel is to pre-detonation. technically it reduces the 'potential energy' of the fuel, and thus the 'purity of the petrol' is less since the concentration of octane is higher, but more power can be made if the ignition is advanced. to make things more simple, higher octane = more performance if the car is tuned to use the higher rated gas. Most engines have sensors that work with the ecu to retard/advance timing slightly to prevent knock. I'm not too sure about our bimmer's tunes, but I doubt if a stock tune will be able to advance timing enough to take advantage of race gas. To your second point, octane boosters WILL NOT EVER ENRICH TO 110 race gas... unless you start off with 109 rating or something. (PS, I'm using the US rating, which I think is a combination of the RON and MON; HK uses the RON rating, which is significantly higher. 93 US octane =~98 HK RON (vpower) I think). AFAIK, the most expensive booster has been tested to raise 93 gas to approx 98, and that's using a concentration that's waaaay past the recommended concentration suggested. You using half a bottle (i have no idea what the recommended usage is, but I doubt if it's less than half a bottle) will not do anything significant, let alone = 110 Higher octane ratings can be taken advantage of in higher compression, temp, rpms and boost, and frankly it won't mean any meaningful performance increase in stock engines. People with built engines and turbo/sc will need higher rated gas to prevent knock to produce higher power, and that requires a different tune. A 323 won't get any gains from better gas, unless you build the engine to attain higher compression, remove the rpm limiter, etc etc. A stock 335 won't get much difference either, stock an all. Cliffnotes: 1. No, boosters won't give you race gas 2. No, boosters won't do anything with stock engines, NA or FI 3. The mmt in the boosters will leave shit in your engine if you use it all the time 1+2+3. Don't use octane boosters if your car is stock. |
