Thumbs up Pics of paint correction on my Sapphire Black E92 335i

Here are some photos of my car after a visit to Car Care Products Australia for some “paint correction”. The seats were also treated with "Duragloss Professional Leather System".

I have to thank Mike for the outstanding job he did. He is a true professional with a genuine passion for cars and how they “should” look. The car looks amazing. Better than I ever expected. The photos just don’t do it justice. The first bunch of shots were taken on site at Car Care Products. It was over cast that day so the finish does not jump out at you as much as it does when the sunshine is out. There are also some shots taken the next day when the sun was out.

If you want to do the job yourself, Mike also holds Car Detailing Workshops. These workshops are designed to show amateurs and professionals alike how a car should be washed, paint corrected (if required) and how to keep your car’s finish looking better than ever, for longer. Workshops are usually held every month on a Saturday morning.

I have washed, polished and detailed every car that I have owned. In my younger days, a couple of show cars that I owned as well (yes bra!! an XY GT and an XE ESP 5.8L which I still have). I have 4 cars now, one of them being the E92. I thought I knew as much as anyone on how to make a car shine. I must say the workshop was brilliant. Mike took time to answer all our questions. I picked up a few things that I did not know about. Now I know what not do!! After we were done, Mike supplied us with some pizza’s as well! If you seriously want the best out of your paint finish or interior, you need to get in touch with Mike.

Guys, don’t flame me regarding the pics. I am a mechanical engineer, so my artistic ability is virtually zero. Trying to be “arty” just makes things worse.

Looks good. I like the idea of detailing wokshops. Not really convinced about H&R springs on the rear only though, why not just go back to stock all round?

I've known Mike personally for years and his work is top notch.

Now if he could just get out of his workshop for the day so he can detail our boat I'd be a happier man

Yes. I know what you mean.

The main reason for taking out the H&R Sports at the front was that I was constantly scraping the "splitters" and the underneath edge of the front bar. When we replaced the fronts first with the stock M-Sport springs, I thought well it doesn't look too bad. So I drove the car for a week or so with the rear still fitted with the H&R Sports. The car drove much better, with reduced diving on the opposite front when cornering. ie when tackling a right hand turn it used to feel as if the front left was getting really loaded up resulting in some understeer. With the rear lower now and I guess with the stiffer springs as well, the car, when cornering hard is now much more neutral. So I decided to leave it as it was.

People ask me if the car has been lowered. When I respond "yes, just in the back", I get the "you don't have to be smart arse, I am just asking a question" type looks. I think it has more of a subtle lowered look now.

Plus, I don't need to negotiate speed humps and those steep driveways at Macca's in a diagonal fashion any more!!

Yes Mike is a great guy. His work speaks volumes regarding his general attitude towards things.

I didn't know he did boats as well??

Yes, "Mike" did a pretty good job. He used the following products:

Step 1 'Prep Surface' - Dodo Juice Gentle Grey Clay Bar & Magic Lube (applied by hand)

Step 2 'Cleaner' - Menzerna Power Finish OEM PO203S (applied using Mint Random Orbital Polisher DAS6, 5 inch)

Step 3 'Polish' - Menzerna Final Finish OEM Hi Cut 106FF (applied using Mint Random Orbital Polisher DAS6, 5 inch)

Step 4 'Polish' - Dodo Juice Lime Prime (applied using Mint Random Orbital Polisher DAS6, 5 inch. Can also be applied by hand)

Step 5 'Wax/Sealant' - Dodo Juice Purple Haze soft wax (applied by hand)

Final Step 'Wax/Sealent' - Dodo Juice Red Mist, Protection Detailer (spray on and buff off by hand)

NOTE: With steps 2 & 3 you probably should use a random orbital polisher with these Menzerna Polishes as they are harder to use by hand. Car Car Products sells them if you haven't got one. If you want to do these 2 steps by hand, Mike probably has another product you could use.
