Could just be a bad batch of gas. I would think there would a hefty penalty for purporting 87 octane as 93. Maybe you should report the gas station?

Again, how do you KNOW you got 87? Bad batches of gas happen now and then. Are you saying that EVERYTIME that happens its 87 octane I paid for? Come on bro.

These are amusing threads, but here's the serious answer:

At some level of torque, road conditions, atmospheric conditions, and tire conditions the wheels will slip due to lack of traction.

Don't exceed that level of torque unless you want your wheels to spin.

People keep saying that the throttle is NOT an on/off switch, and inherently, you ALL know that-- so why are you mashing down the throttle, burning up your tires, and then blaming it on too much power? It's not too much power, it's too little control. Luckily, you are responsible for controlling it, so you can fix this... learn the car's throttle.

Not to compare anyone here to an F1 driver, but those guys have enough power at their disposal to burn up their massively huge racing slicks in any low gear... they also know how to control their throttles to prevent this from happening.

Power is not a bad thing unless you can't control it. You CAN control it, you just have to learn how to work that throttle...

Simple enough.

Or, don't buy procede, don't buy a 335i and buy a 328i instead. Still a great car, and you won't have to worry about your lack of throttle control destroying your tires.

And if that's still too much, there are several up and coming Korean manufacturers...

I am definitely not saying every time...But this time for sure. NOBODY elses car had this problem...when I emptied the tank and put better gas in...whala, problem gone. To me it's a pretty simple equation...

Right, so why didn't you just happen to get a bad batch of gas? Have you gone back to that station? Did the problem recur?

All around staggered are not better. Majority of cars come as non-staggered for a reason. Imho 255 rear is absolute maximum considering the car weight and front 225.
The grip is not dependent on rft vs non-rft. Compound matters the most. PS2 is ok gripwise though otherwise the tire is somewhat outdated.
However, tire choice is a matter of preference. Any choice can be right for an individual.
Lsd and tire "upgrades" are poor solutions for traction problems comparing to 4wd.

Unfortunately, I didn't wait for the xi. I put 245s in the front, 275s in the back, and they seem well balanced. Majority of high performance sports cars come staggered. I'm not saying that what I did is the "best", only that it does work, and is an option. I would like to hear a success story from someone with sways, coilovers, LSD and stock tires (or at least stock rims). :rocks:
