"wastegate valve conversion" No longer available
Be ready to be disappointed... I went back today and was asking for the "wastegate valve conversion" (aka retrofit) and was informed by a seemingly quite knowledgeable senior tech that this conversion option is no longer available. I’ve posted my first take on the new software going from my original 01/07 software to this one and I definitely notice a difference, it’s not as bad as I feared, but it’s not the same animal either.

If the load fails which it does from time to time they may need to get in to the box. always take it out to be safe.

yea, i am in for this campaign as i had to have the rear brake service completed....
will post the update when i get the car back but i am thinking it will have to go through the adaptation all over again? eh... life goes on... as long as it helps with delaying the fuel pump to fail i am all for it... rather go in every 30k miles than every 12k...

What software version did they put in your cars when you got this update? I recently ( 6/17/10) got a reflash of the stock software when they replaced a steering angle sensor. The version on my receipt says "software ver. 2.37.2". Is what they put in your cars newer/different than this?

not sure as i left the paper work in the car...
however it does reset all adaptations values... but WOW the car is SMOOOTH as butter now... no more of that harshness... power is till there but it is smooth.. i think for the fuel pump there is no more of that SUDDEN requirement of fuel rather gradual increase and decrease so less wear...? i dunno... but works for me... i'll update once the adaptation is complete sometime tomorrow...

ONE of the things the software update addresses is the fuel pump. But all it does there is change the parameters under which the ECU throws a code. In other words, let's say a code is generated whenever the pressure in the pump goes above 20 psi or below 10 psi (wildly off actual values, btw). The software changes the values to something else, let's say 30 and 5. So presto - HPFP is still malfunctioning, or at least not operating as it was designed, but no fault code is displayed in your dash display! It's magic. Software can't 'fix' hardware...we're all standing by waiting for the new pump due shortly (hopefully). Rick |

I was expecting to get my car back today when the SA called me to say that an injector had failed just before they were ready to put it away to wait for me. Now it'll be Monday before delivery.

Same type of thing happened to me. I went to pick the car up and they said that after updating the software my waste gates were rattling. So they put in new Actuators and "adjusted vacuum". Got a nice 2011 328 wagon for Friday and the weekend. I only drove the car for a few minutes back to work today so no real observations yet. My exhaust (AE) sounded a bit louder, but that may be placebo effect from driving the near silent wagon for 3 days. I'll look at the paperwork more closely tonight and note the software version as well.

Just scheduled a service appointment for what I suspect will be my fourth HPFP (26,000 on the clock). I was told this software upgrade (bulletin 130910) was mandatory. I'm still on my original software (Dec. '06 build). If anything significant happens, I'll repost. BTW, I've never had the wastegate rattle issue.
