I had a F10 528i on order with 150k in options. Put down the deposit on the last week of July and the dealer just told me earliest delivery was Christmas!!!!

Called the Sales manager and decided to get something else from what they had in stock because I need a car now. They were nice about it because they understood that waiting 5months is a bit crazy. This is my first car in Hong Kong--been here about 8 months.

Went with:
Space Gray
Gray Dakota+Aluminium trip-First time saw gray dakota and it much nicer than I thought. Also its the only color that matches the light headliner perfectly imho. even the dash is matching gray which is quite nice.
IDrive+ipod USB (very surprised to find its standard on 325i/330i/335i saloon)

Would have liked to go with a 330i, but they had none in stock. 335i is just way overpriced here imho. Interestingly, the e92/93 325i don't have idrive/usb standard and after having idrive in my last car I wasn't going to get a car w/o it. Figured a 325i is fine for the little driving I'll do here.

Car is going to be delivered in 2 weeks. Will post pics one I pickup the car. First thing I want to upgrade is the stock stereo. Want to upgrade the amp and speakers.

Anyone know of a good place that can work on the stereo? Budget is about 10k-20k for speakers+amp.

Don't know any specific shops, but you can try some shops in Tai Hang behind the Chinese Recreation Club. Some of them sell high grade auto-specific stereos, but I never tried them so I can't guarantee how good they are.

Congrats on your 325i. It won't accelerate like a 335i or blast from stoplight to stoplight, but it will do fine for regular driving and retains that BMW handling whenever you feel the urge to blast through those twisties on Shek O Road or Road Twisk at Tai Mo Shan.

Picked up my car. Everything is good. The 161 wheels look better in person than pictures I have to say. Also coming from black dakota, I have to say the gray dakota feels like an upgrade with the gray headliner. everything looks bright and spacious. The 325i for HK driving to me seems like the perfect engine. I can rev it some sometime and the engine is super smooth.

The new idrive is very nice and atleast with the 5 or 6 address i tried it worked flawlessly. compared to the 2007 idrive it is also super fast.

First upgrade will probably be the stereo.

Interesting, I parked at elements this morning and there was a space gray e92 with m6 reps next to mine. maybe it belongs to someone else here

DLS Reference RA50 5 channel (4x75w+1x265w class AB) power fronts/rears/underseats (in parallel)
BMW OEM window trim for A pillar tweeter
Hifi rear shelf mid+tweeters on rear shelf (I had these from my 335i upgrade)

The installer was recommend by the dealer. Paid deposit and ordered the components. Installation in 2 weeks.

For some general greenery background, you can try clear water bay, bride's pool road, the peak garden, sai kung, shek o road or tai mo shan as well as that single-lane deep bay road in lau fau shan, there are 1 or 2 spot there where you get to overlook across deep bay into Shenzhen, really nice setting. Those two-lane twisties set among verdant green flora is a nice change from the dense and grey urban setting. I notice many local hk car magazines shoot their photos in those above locations.

Also, Fei Ngo Shan road (and Jat's Incline) has some quite spectacular scenery overlooking Kowloon and Hong Kong, but the day has to be reasonably unpolluted for you to get a clear picture.
