Windshield Replacement
Hey guys, looking for some input....
Yesterday was riding in my gf's e90 on the 826. A rock flew and cracked the top of the windshield (maybe 6in crack). Now she called her insurance company and then tried to get it setup so that BMW would replace it. BMW wants to charge about $1700 to replace while the insurance company only wants to cover work up to about $800. So my question is, has this happen to anyone and you took it to an independent shop to replace?, or is there anyone you recommend that could possibly cost closer to the $800 mark for parts/labor while using genuine BMW glass? Its a 2007 e90 if that helps..... Thanks in advance Edit: Insurance company recommends: Beck's Auto Glass All Pro Auto Glass United Auto Glass |

Whats up Caveman, im a Public Adjuster and in knowing about insurance claims and what not. Your insurance company by Law has to pay the full amount with no cost or deductible on your end. If you want a BMW dealer to replace it they have to honor that. Insurance companies will always try to pay out the least possible in fixing your car even if it means aftermarket cheaper parts. With it being your windshield thats consider a safety part, so your insurance has to cover that regardless. Now if it where a seatbelt issue that would be the dealer and also at no cost to you. Remember, its not about what your insurance company wants, its what they are required by law to do, so dont let them haggle you down to going with cheap parts.
