Oil Temp in the 250-255 range yesterday

Bought the car almost 2 weeks ago. 2007 335i sedan-sport package/premium package. Has Oil cooler.

I drove the car from Miami-Orlando last weekend with 0 issues other than the annoying brake squeal.

Driving home yesterday, gunned it only twice, and I look down and the oil temp needle is a little past the middle point. The only difference in driving was I used the steptronic paddles to downshift it a couple times.

Car is BONE stock.

Should I be worried about this?

Also, when I first turn my car on it says service. It is a CPO car so I figured they went through it with a fine tooth comb before I bought it including oil changes, etc. Do I already need to take it in?

Yep that is normal. If i remmeber correctly your 07 doesn't have an OC as well, cause I usually get 240-245 on cool days and 250-255 on hot and traffic days. Yes this car is daily driven about 60miles a day for weekday and 60+ more on weekend

is this the dealer/seller telling you that have one or did you look on under the front passenger wheel well and saw the oil cooler vent. sometimes they may have "tricked" you to sell the car. just double check. no offense in this post. sometimes people think they have oil cooler but they really dont.

I have the oil cooler and i haven't gone over the 250 mark. NYC, gridlock traffic w/ 100+ temps and it hasn't gone over 250. driving it hard and aggressive, still hasn't gone over 250. and ive been running jb+ (before) and Procede (now)

I live in Orlando and have seen my oil temps go 255-260 if I get on it a few times in a short period of time. I sit at 240 on a good day. The last time I made a turnpike run to Boca Raton from Orlando I was averaging about 230.

I have an oil cooler BTW.

I live in Scotland where it is cold pretty much all the time, my 6at sits at the middle all day long, when i give it some it creeps a little past dead centre.

So far no limp home modes its been fine, little worried though as its around 10c outside so should be less.

Oh and btw I have stock oil cooler.

I figure this is normal?

The late 2007 do have the oil cooler. I have one and live in S. Florida too, I occasionally see 250 oil temp. after spirited driving. I would not worry, but you can check to see if you are a quart low. Also when was your last oil change. Even with the CPO BMW probably did not do an oil change before you purchased unless it was due. Before the summer I did my own oil change on my CPO 335i since I did not feel comfortable waiting another 6 months for BMW to do it.

mid way point on my car is 210. I won't boost her until its at 230. Over 270 and then you need to look into it.

My oil temps go over 260 in 6 minutes of spirited driving. Maybe I am old school, but I have never heard of 260F being a good idea for any oil.

You have a stock Oil Cooler, right? Is that why you're upgrading to the new STETT unit?

I do have the stock oil cooler now and I am upgrading to the STETT Oil Cooler. It shocked me that I was able to get over 260F within 6 minutes of spirited driving. I have to believe BMW keeps the oil temps so hot for emission reasons, but I am more concerned about performance. I would be much more comfortable in the lower 200F range.

I have a 07 e92 with 50k on the clock, my oil temp stays at 210 or 220, even if I drive it hard it dosent go past 220.

I have an '09 with the oil cooler (yes I looked ).

Normal for me in Houston is 240F. It gets up to about 250F on hot days with spirited driving. I have rarely ever seen it past 250F.

I even did an autox in 95F weather and the oil temp never got over 250 (lots of time between ~50second runs).

Don't panic, it sounds like everything is normal...

I went on a 50 mile cruise yesterday. Kept my eyes on the temp throughout the drive, and it stayed mostly around 225, but never got over 230.

Also 07 E92 with sport, only mod is "scoops" behind the grill.

He has a sport package. I thought that meant automatically he had the oil cooler. Anyway mine is a 2007 with a sport package and I do have an oil cooler. Very easy to check just search the forum and it tells you, with pics.
