Winter tire on original BMW wheel

Hey, i'm new on the forum and also new owner of a BMW 328i xDrive 2011. Just bought winter tires "continental extreme winter contact".
Some guy working in a garage told me because i was on run-flat AS tire, it would be better for me to get run-flat winter tires if i want them to fit on my original BMW wheel. He said that if i am putting regular tires on my wheel, they will wear faster because those wheels were made to fit only with run-flat tires..... What do you guys think about that? I think, he was just trying to sell me more expensive tires or extra set of wheels. But the thing is i already bought my set of tires, just want to make sure that my tires won't be affected by the wheels, otherwise, i'll just have to get me some extra wheels.

Thanks

ps What do you think of these tires "continental extremevinter contact"?

Continental EWC is a very good snow/winter tires. It beats out Bridgestone WS70 & Michelin XIce2 on Tirerack test review.

As for OEM BMW wheels, you can put regular non RF tires without any problem and the regular tires will not wear out faster.

I think he was just trying to sell you new rims.

I've run my winter non run flats on OEM BMW rims for years without any problems at all.

big load of crap. You can run whatever you want on the original BMW wheel. Its the suspension that is tuned for RFT not the wheel. I also ran last wto winters on Blizzark LM-22 non-RFT, but going to the newer Blizzark LM-60 225/40/18 RFT on my stock sports wheels this winter.

Wow quick reply, thank you guys. One more thing though, now that i'm gonna put non rf tires on my bim, and with no spare tire, what would you recommand in case of a flat tire.
Did someone ever use the ContiComfortKit

Or something similar

The "some guy" is an idiot.

However

There is a very good business case to be made for putting the winter tires on their own wheels.

Removing tires from wheels isn't good for either the tires or the wheels.
Swapping tires on wheels will generally cost you $100 a season with balancing.

A cheap extra set of wheels will cost you $400. That will be recouped in two years and your wheels and tires will thank you.

I have that thing, its awesome really. Come in handy couple times on my RAV4. However, word to the wise, you have a non-RFT; You might want to invest in a donut. I have an E46 BMW donut and Tire Iron\Jack combo. You really should have that because if you get a genuine puncture, even with the conti kit, your range is very limited.

I'm also getting non-RFT's for winter and I bought a can of this:

http://reviews.canadiantire.ca/9045/...ws/reviews.htm

According to the can, it still works at -30C ... let's hope we will never find out.

It probably makes the tire irrepairable after you use it, but I figured if you have runflats and you drive on it at zero pressure, they're irreparable anyway.
