"You could leave the ECU in there without any problem. BMW updates the ECU from the OBDII port inside the car. They do know inspect the ECU compartment (where the PROcede is located). But if you want to play it 1000% safe, go ahead and remove it. The update will have no effect on the PROcede if you leave it in or take it out. Nothing to worry about."

I took my car (e90 '06 330i from June 06 ED pickup) with original Progman from delivery in for the progman update this week citing the nav bug mentioned in this thread. No issue getting them to do the upgrade. Took many hours but was finished in 1 day. They didn't tell me the actual version number they used. Good news is that all of the features/fixes I had read about were there. Auto dismiss of the disclaimer, keypad move in phone area, POI search (yeah!), settings all moved around, font and start screen change, etc.

Now the bad news, my voice commands no longer work at all. I hit the buttons (either one) - no beep, no interruption of audio, no visual indicator on idrive screen. I am going to contact the dealer today to get the car back in there. I looked through the settings (many were reset to defaults) but didn't see any setting related to disabling the voice commands. Any idea from anyone on a self fix? I tried resetting idrive (both ejects and mute/power button). It reset but no change.

Overall, I am happy with the changes except the obvious breaking of the voice commands!

Thanks for the update! Can you please explain "keypad move in phone area"? Also please update on what you find about voice commands. I am planning on going in next week.

I don't have RTTI so I wasn't worried about that problem.

As for the keypad move, I meant the actual keypad when a bluetooth call is active is now at the bottom of the idrive screen instead of a second screen accessible via pressing down the idrive controller. I believe this was changed several revs of progman ago.

That was changed in 23 or 24 I believe, my car was delvered with this... However, do you mind some posting some photos of the main screen and some other screens goin on?

I personally don't think it actually looks nicer but it doesn't bother me at all especially if it speeds things up (which I believe is the assumption). Maybe my opinions will change after looking at it more than one day

Remember though, I was on an old version so this changed other things for me that you all may be used to like the font changes (slight). For example, I also noticed changes with the way it displays the mp3s on a CD I have. Before, it would change blank spaces in the file names to underscores so it looked ugly. Now it actually puts in a space. Much better. I assume this was changed in an earlier version but who knows. I don't really care though

No call from SA yet on the repair of voice commands.

Oh, and POI is Points Of Interest. It is the "Information" data in Nav. Most people ripped on BMW Nav because you could not search POI. For example, if you are in a big city and wanted to find the closest Starbucks, it was difficult to find via catagories. You would go to coffee shops (or whatever) in the catagories and then you may have to scroll through hundreds of entries or something. Now you can you can go to the catagory and then put in "Starbucks" and search. My pictures show this.

Brought my e92 in for sirius radio and the idrive update and I confirmed it this morning and it is version 25.02. It was installed yesterday 3/28, . Since the install I have noticed the fan light remains on when I shut the car off. Also, when I'm driving, it seems the airflow osscillates between the windshield vents and the main air vents....taking it back monday because that never happened before.
When you go in for the update, make sure you tell the service dept. that you would like them to keep your personal settings. Mine were wiped out and I had to reset them all. Things like turn signal settings, radio settings, door locks, etc;

Just got my car back from dealer and they updated to progman 25 now my voice entry doesn'nt work either. Also the sunroof doesn't work. Dealer told me the german version 25.02 is available but US version won't be available until next week to fix the problem with the voice entry and also the sunroof. So I guess back to the dealer next week. I don't know why they used the version if they knew of the problems.

Edit: Service dept had me reset the sunroof but he said the update should be in on Tues to fix the voice entry
