Run Flats again?

Beat this one to death. but my new 09 335ci (sports package) has a harsh buckboard ride when you compare it against my Porsche 996 or my wife's Lexus 350 IS. All three have 18" wheels. Has anyone gone with traditional tires? Results? I swear I can feel a dime at 60 MPH..

RFTs make for a harsh ride. Search around there are lots of threads on this topic. Its one of the more popular topics on this forum.

New generation 3 run flats are much more comfortable than the stock RFT. Yes that is new model bridgestones. But yes you can go with non-RFT and they are much much better.

If I were you, I'd get the Michelin PS2 PZ (RFT) and see what happens. I have a friend with them, and you can't even tell they are RFT. They transform the ride completely. The Stock RE050 bridgestones are horrible.

Thanks for the Tip

Will check out the Michelin PS2 PZ (RFT). Car has less than 1000 miles on it for some reason it was never sold. I got a hell of a discount, but guess I got to give some back to Tire rack..

My car came with the Michelin PS2 (M-Package) and I don't think that the ride is harsh.

I bought new tires (PS2's) and have no issues with them. Much better than the Bridgestones and they should wear better.

I'm riding on Continental ContriProContact SSRs, and honestly, I don't mind them at all. I think it is because of the rfs that I didn't have a serious accident when I smacked the pothole the other night.

You can sell the Bridgestones here, on eBay, or on Craigslist to someone who needs them for a lease return. That will make the switch less costly.

PS2 ZP ride significantly smoother, more compliant, and more stable in bumpy situations than the RE050 RFT.

(Still looking for a chuckle on this)

Craigslist, Ebay, and these boards see a lot of tires moving around... My set of nearly-new PS2 was pieced together from all three sources.

The PS2's feel better at first then after a few hundred to a thousand miles they lose that feeling.

Interesting, so if I have a set of PS2 that have ~1/32 of wear (at least several thousand miles) then I should be experiencing their worst... if that's the case

That has not been my experience, and I have been using them for years, except for a brief runflat nightmare after buying the 335i, quickly resolved by new shoes for the poor girl...

excellent post ... I love it

we have a RM Auto Museum near where I live, they have the original Finstone car there from Hollywood .... yes you guessed it ... new tires are required the rear is cracked all the way thru ... they are seriously thinking about replacing them with Michelin

I'm not saying it's horrible or anything, I just don't think they ride that great after a while.

Less noisy than the Bridgestones, and a tad softer.
