They are somewhat behind from where they were when I had my last visit to BMW Welt and was finishing the article (May-June 2006). It will probably still open in the Summer but not for deliveries right away. Originally we were figuring on late Spring opening and then summer deliveries. I would guess Sept. or Oct. might be reasonable for deliveries but this is just an educated guess.

thanks for the inside information... wonder if it would it be worth waiting for?

if my plans this yr have a ED 3series in it ,

waiting for ED to take place at this new site would also mean i'd be ED for a 2008 model, and i wouldn't get it back Stateside until around Thanksgiving... gee what a long way from now.

on the other hand, i'd hate to do ED in Germany and miss the opening of he deliverys at the new center only by 4-6 wks...

as well as hate getting the 2007 car stateside coming off the boat only 4-6wks before the 2008 models end up in the showrooms stateside.

What are the odds that it will be open for an October 4, 2007 ED pick up? I plan on picking up an E-93 then.

As nice as the Welt is going to be,is it really worth it to plan your entire trip around a 1 -1/2 hour delivery or less ? You can always save that experience for your next ED !

Many thanks! Have you had any further updates on the Welt opening since your last reply?

Slim, as the first deliveries will be October 15th, 2007. Actually, there will be no deliveries from October 1st to October 12th due to the preparation for the opening.

Best Regards,

Garage List
Someone wrote quite a nice article about the Welt in Roundel. Now, if I could only recall the author's name..... hmmmm......

ED and Model Year Question

Hallo Jonathan (JSpira)

Can you tell me when the 2008 model year will be available for ED? I'm getting my BMW335i coupe next year in the summer, so when will Munich have the 2009 available (any ideas on the changes - many posts on this board are hinting on increased horsepower) Is that in the works? What about other changes? inside or out?

Danke schon in voraus (practicing my German)

Hallo BMW335iFan

That is a hard question to answer but probably early October. It is possible that there will be a hiatus then for the transition to the Welt (the date is still a moving target to some extent) so it would be more likely from 15. October on.

Would October 15 still be seasonable in terms of weather conditions and avoiding snow?

Ja, it should be reasonable and seasonable.
