Square Set Up on 08 335xi Sport?

Guys...newbie here trying to figure out what is going on? My new-to-me 335xi has a staggered set up on style 168 (i think thats the style) rims. I'm not sure if these were original on the car?

I do like the idea of rotating tires so was wondering how to go about either going with wider rims/tires in the front, or narrower in the rear so I can rotate continuously and have great tire life?

I am coming from a E46 M3 which was a rear tire eater due to staggered set up and that I couldn't rotate. My B6S4 was not staggered and the tires seemed to last quite well.

Also, the car currently has Bridgestone Potenza's (RFT) and the front tires seem to be quite loud, even thought there is good tread left? I originally thought a wheel bearing might be going, but sounds like these RFT are very noisey. ??

I run 235/40/18 on 162 rims on all four corners on my 328xi.

I have a 335xi and went wider up front. I run 8.5 inch (et37) wheels on all 4 corners with 245/40/18s. All four wheels are factory rear 313s. I could potentially run 235/40/18, 245/35/18, 255/35/18. I have heard that all of these combinations could work depending on offsets and the specific tire model width with the factory height.

While I prefer non-staggered wheels, my 128i with staggered tires wore the rears twice as fast as the fronts - as did my Z3, E46 sedan and Z4 with a square set-up. So the only (square) advantages I can see are less understeer and the ability to rotate - which BMW advises against unless you do it every 3,000 miles!

The cost effective solution will be to replace the rear OEM RFTs when they wear out and then decide on replacement rubber when the fronts go.
