Who has gotten the rear window dot matrix tinted successfully?

Just wondering if anyone has received a good tint job on the rear dot matrix without any sanding or special type of glueing. I am not talking about vinyl either. I know vinyl is very popular but when I went to the tint shop, they suggested I get the rear matrix tinted and then go back in two weeks to get the matrix corrected. Since they are the professionals and have been in business for quite a while, I listened to them. The dot matrix looks like absolute crap now so i'm not sure if I should believe them.

It all depends on the shop. If they're pro at it then there shouldn't be any problems w/ them handling the dot matrix. I'd post up in the regional section to ask for a reputable tint shop

My dot matrix was actually painted black from the inside of the car. Looks way better than any tint job over dot matrix that I have ever seen.

well, after the car sat in the sun all day, I went in the back seat and pushed on the tint where the dot matrix is. It is now sticking a little but it is very uneven in places. I'm hoping they will be able to do a better job with their heat gun and the right tools when I take it back...

the thing i keep reading in MANY post is "my tint guy did a AWSOME job at the place i went to..." "mine dot matrix were covered nicely" "you need an experienced guy, my tint guy did it perfect, you can't tell"

BUT, when it's time to post up pictures.... NOBODY has pictures of their "perfect tints" It's like they will post it up later, and never get to, or they don't post anymore on that subject.

If you have "GREAT DOT MATRIX TINT" and your tinter is "EXPERIENCED" or "TOOK HIS TIME" post pictures of his read coupe dot matrix job.

Because chances are, it looks just like everyone else's tint done.

that's a damn shame on an M3.. i've been quoted anywhere from 4-5 bills to get it done right. something about having to remove the interior panels adds to labor costs

just to update this thread, I took the car back and they still did a crappy job on the matrix so I had them cut it off right where the matrix starts...looks better imo.

Certain places use a glue or epoxy to keep the dot matrix uniform looking.

My guy attempted to do it, and he made it look OK in the majority of the areas.

Long story short, it wasnt perfect, so I used a roof spoiler to cover the areas.

Killed two birds with one stone.

Most places dont do anything special in that area unless they tell you they are. They clean the area and tint, and hope for the best.

As several have mentioned already, no matter how good the shop is they will not be able to get it 100% consistent. Anyone that says that theirs is perfect may not be as picky as others...

Many people can do it, get it to stick, and make it look pretty good, but it will never be perfect. I personally went for vinyl on mine.
