Intercooler instead of middle grills?

Hi guys
Well, I don't have any pics to show what I'm talking about, but im sure you guys know what I'm talking about.. Anyhow, does anyone know how to do it well? Because I know if you dont put grills, it'd just look ghetto. Does anyone know how to do it right? I'm thinking of doing this for an Amuse Ericsson bumper.

risky... debris getting all caught in it. (leaves, rocks, etc) would leave the grill on its there for some protection.

Leave the grills on for protection. If you don't care about risking the damage you can remove the grills then dremel out the vertical slats to free up the IC.

Is there a 'fake intercooler' that functions like grills? Like the M3 Darth Maul? Is that just the intercooler or is that something like grills?
