O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Troubleshooting help
I decided to relocate the rear o2 sensor to behind the rear cats so I won't have to worry about SES lights if I ever had to temporarily remove the proceed from the car (gotta love irony). While positioning and wiring the sensors went fairly flawlessly, my original attempt to protect the wiring from heat was less than stellar. The electrical tape protecting the soldered connections melted inside of the protective wrapping, essentially shorting the separated wires together. So after re-wrapping the wires, this time covering them in heat wrap and routing them behind the aluminum heat, I hope they are good to go.
However, SES is still on. Checked the ODBII codes, it's throwing a heater circuit code for all four O2 sensors (p0031, 37, 51, 57), even though I never touched the front sensors. I checked the voltage to the presumed white o2 heater wires, and all seem to be getting voltage. Whether it's low or not, I have no clue. The PROcede is detecting voltage to the rear sensors, but of course it's recording DME codes of 11420,421,422,423 (I hope I remembered those correct). Voltage to the front sensors seem okay as well. Still the heater circuit codes will not go away. Questions 1) Are the heater circuits to each o2 sensor separate? Is it possible I could have shorted something? 2) Does anyone know what voltage values I should see to the various sensor wires? 3) Any thoughts as to what might be causing a SES light for all 4 sensors? 4) I assume by clearing the SES codes, that also clears the DME code, is it possible the codes are being stored and just not properly clearing? 5) Anyone have the wiring chart available? I need to make sure my assumptions on the wiring circuits are correct. Any help is appreciated... Starting to lose my sanity as to what is causing the issue. ![]() Last edited by C4sF80M3; 11-15-2010 at 08:32 AM.. Reason: addition |

Have you cleared the codes? The SES will stay until you clear the codes. So I suggest you clear them and check which codes will keep coming back.

I've been trying to clear the code using both the proceed command center, as well as an odbII diag tool. However, when connected via laptop to the proceed the DME codes are still present, I had assumed those would go away if the problem no longer existed. I will try to clear codes first then restart and test. Still not sure why the front sensors are throwing a error message.
