You guys are definitely reading my mind on new ways to design that shop. Maybe Ill make him spend that money I paid him on unnecessary repairs. LOL

I don't know about the ACT specifically, but I will say the stack height of my South Bend clutch was a bit thicker than that of the stock unit. I had to completely remove my clutch stop in order to get the full amount of travel necessary to disengage it. If the shop disconnected the slave cylinder in any way, it is necessary to pressure bleed the slave and use a bmw special tool to depress the slave while doing so. I can't explain the slippage though...

I knew I was right!!!!!!!
I'm cleaning out the garage and guess what I come across?--An old Throw out bearing from my 335. I found something very interesting and I believe that the OP has a very strong case against the mechanic. The throw out bearing has a white dot on the arm and a white dot on the bearing. These should go together because if you look at all 4 sides you will see a difference in height. Yes, the bearing SHOULD come connected to the arm but it looks like the mechanic disconnected the bearing and then attached it the wrong way. Look at my pictures attached. Look at the height difference when comparing the white dot and the other sides without the white dot. This shows exactly why the OP was feeling what he was feeling. The clutch was slipping and the pedal felt really light. The reason being was because the throw out bearing was pushing on the springs even when the foot was off the pedal creating the clutch to slip.

Look at the white dot here:
Look at where the white dot is in Former Boosted's picture. This is in the correct place: ![]()

Good job! I knew it couldn't have been the clutch....in all these years I have never ever had an issue with ACT clutches.
I always make sure not to move the throwout bearing as it comes from the dealer. The oem arm always comes with a new bearing snapped into it if you choose to replace it.... |

I also knew that there was a very minute possibility that it was the clutch also.

So Unique335i07 did what Mr. 5 find out, was the problem with your clutch?
And if so did you go back to the mechanic and let him know he f**ked up? Or did you just sell the clutch?
