Did a search on the site for some pics of this ebay aero lip and I gotta say there is a definite difference...its alot bulkier around the edges..the OEM one sits much more flush and is less bulkier around the edges..
Its a tough decision ebay vs OEM ...$100 vs $370...but I think the OEM is worth the extra $ beacuse of how it fits around the sides...anyone else care to comment? THX |

Why anyone would want to put some cheap Chinese shit from ebay on their car is beyond me
![]() Just read the auction on a lark. 65 dollars to ship a 35 dollar part? ![]() Looks like just about every logical thing that would quantify a reasonable return is fought tooth and nail by the seller. SELLER PAYS SHIPPING SELLER PAYS SHIPPING SELLER PAYS SHIPPING. A little more research pulls up this little write up on Bayson. Looks like their customer service and shop is....well...... http://www.yelp.com/biz/bayson-r-motorsports-san-jose Last edited by Dark_Knight_335; 11-27-2010 at 06:22 PM.. |

I bet you spent 4 or 5 times as much as this guy did. Your loss.... The OP can use the money he saved to buy other parts/whatever he wants. You on the other hand.... |

Total I spent was $183. Thats the lip, tax, shipping, and paint. The guy even used OEM paint. He kinda messed up the first time, little drips of paint, but he repainted it free of charge.

![]() That said, let's talk about loss.. "I got the aero lip from BaysonR, the $35 one. When I got it, test fitted and its perfect. One thing I noticed after I took if off was a crease-like crack in a couple places. Its not a crack but there is a line. Is this something I should be worried about? Will prep and paint take care of it?" Even the OP has made note of imperfections on the lip he found that he hopes will get "fixed" during priming and painting. Not to mention the guy who painted it hosed the job the first time, and had to do it over again. Hardly sounds like the same process or quality to me. Maybe he just got a bad deal, who knows.. In the end, no one is right or wrong in my estimation, it just seems like hey, you just plonked down money on a ridiculously overpriced brand of car (cmon we all know it's overpriced, but we love our BMWs anyway ![]() ![]() ![]() Pay to play brother. Pay to play. As for a working definition of loss: 1) Paying to get something through the mail that is TWICE THE PRICE TO SHIP as the actual part, not to mention at a high risk of getting cracked and damaged during shipping. Then where does that leave you? Having to ship it back and wait and hope you get a good one next time around, all on your nickel in most cases? I've heard so many horror stories about these ebay deals. 2) 183$ total for a 35$ item. I'm sorry to make an example of the OP, but I'm sure he can tell you about the amount of frustration and aggravation from transaction start to finish, what with the crappy initial paint job and questionable fit and finish of the lip when it arrived. I do sincerely hope the finished product is everything he hoped for, due to all the riff raff that ensued. My loss suddenly seems to take on many not so obvious gains sans the monetary factor to have the peace of mind of knowing a reputable shop installed and painted my part with BMW certified paints and materials to match my car exactly. If paying for a name means getting the quality and reputation that made that name what it is today and putting my money towards a brand and company I believe in as opposed to some fly by night chop shops on ebay then I'll gladly lay down my clams. My TRUE cost: 1) Zero frustration and peace of mind of knowing my parts and workmanship are guaranteed to be free of defects and issues. 2) If I had to return my car god forbid for any reason down the road, BMW will gladly take it back, with no penalties or charges. Can the same be said for other aftermarket parts? |

![]() I'm only half kidding. Smart man, but hey, we're all guilty of it at one time or another. I think making the claim however that aftermarket parts are often better quality is a stretch. |

Guys I didnt mean to start an aero lip war here...n i honestly could give a shit about name (OEM vs replica) my only concern is looks and fitment.. you can clearly see how the this ebay replica looks around the edges
Now compare that to the OEM version..it sits much more flush and doesnt wrap around the edges like this ebay version I know its subtle, but the edge is thinner and this is body styling...it ALL about subtlity..I know its $245 more for the OEM..but I am gonna opt for it..last thing i want is a spoiler thats not gonna be absolutely 100% perfect.. |

![]() I love you ![]() I for one was hardly arguing or declaring war, I was simply debating ![]() ![]() Having said that, it's going to come down to a to each his / her own argument at the end of the day. There are also those of us that, for at least some things, would spring more clams for one thing vs. another based on personal experiences. Last edited by Dark_Knight_335; 11-27-2010 at 07:34 PM.. |

It possible there may be some companies out there manufacturing a better quality replica...I mean either $35 or $350??? is ridculous..and the fact that this ebay item is a no return item led me to be very suspect..I am happy there were members who posted pictures of it..and honestly if you are on a budget or have a forgiving eye..than the ebay piece is not THAT bad
Unfortuntaly for me I am not willing to comprimise..and have spent alot of time and money modding carefully..clean body lines are probably the most important thing to consider and honestly this ebay piece doesnt do it for me.. I have uncovered several other vendors out there selling replicas in the $150- $200 range..but the way I see it why roll the dice..just get it perfect the first time..OEM is the way to go in my opinion. Here is link for Custom Blvd..they sell both the e92 and e90 replica lips...if anyone wants to consider them..I don't know what their return policy is so give em a call first. e90 - http://www.customblvd.com/category-s/9107.htm e92 - http://www.customblvd.com/category-s/9115.htm |

+1 Oh definitely agreed. I find Jlevistreetwerk has some great quality stuff when it comes to aftermarket accessories/ mods. Nick and Cal have always been helpful. E-92 lighting is ace too!
