The one you never contributed to in the first place? Links have been posted to changing the bulb. Tell a stranger what to do in the next thread cb, I'm all but done with this section of the forum.

[quote=BTM;8408925]You mean to tell me if I go into my dealer with my under warranty car, order a replacement xenon bulb, tell them I'm putting it in myself, they would say "no, sorry, we need to spend our time and money doing that"[quote]
The owner's manual has 4 pages detailing the replacement of all bulbs, including halogen headlights - except xenons. Regarding xenons, it states: "Have any work on the xenon lamp system, including bulb replacements, performed at a BMW center or a workshop that works according to BMW repair procedures with correspondingly trained personnel. Otherwise, if such work is carried out improperly, the high voltage in the system presents the danger of fatal injuries." So it seems like cb1111 has a point. I also wonder why the OP has not clarified what he wants to do. Tom |

And point taken. I've gone through the manual to change many bulbs but never noticed that the Xenon was excluded. Regardless, it doesn't invalidate my overall hope for those making condescending and otherwise worthless posts to cease.

Or is it the topic that your first slammed for your subjective opinion of tackiness despite the fact that no one asked for an opinion and then backed into a technically based reason for discouraging?

Right - proving me wrong on a tangent having nothing to do with the topic is moot. Reminds me of the political commercials this fall...don't vote for this guy because he drives a Porsche - nothing relevant. It was a simple example to show that just because someone is replacing something on their own under warranty does not mean they are doing something that's illegal. There are plenty of valid and helpful tangents able to be made in threads like these, once the original question is addressed. This one just got trolled like so many before it and it's really unfortunate that a community of BMW enthusiasts are all so quick to hate on each other. Stating one's opinion, given the time, place, and forum, are certainly welcome. Problem is I'd bet against my chances of posting a thread in here asking which snow tires to get without 30 people chiming in saying I should've got xdrive.
