Light warning.

Ok so i bought some LED number plate lights off ebay claiming ERROR FREE so stuck them in and what do ya know but a light ERROR. Now i really want white light coming from my number plate lighting. if i leave them in will i get any BIG problems from this? or has anyone got a link for ebay lights that do work with the E90?

I have a feeling you have an early model e90. My 07 E92 did the same thing. My LED license plate lights cause a light error as well (despite being claimed error free). Apparently the earlier model years are known to have this issue more than later years. The dealer didn't care at all, it just that the LEDs require a different level of power and the computer recognizes it as "different" thereby throwing the error code.

i have a sept 2007 model. Thing is now the warning light switches off after 5 min and the lights are still on. Whats up with that?

older E90 ECU # 80 something, error.
newer E90 ECU # 81 something, no error.

the 3 series seems to follow this, is my guess.

no, you are fine, as posted above it is just the ECU stating an error. If you had the newer ECU it wouldn't trigger the malfunction

Ah ok so i'll be keeping them then thats good because they look so much better then stock lights.
