I purchased the new BMW Tire & Rim Insurance program. This one is directly through BMW & you do not have to pay upfront & wait for reimbursement. You just take your car to the dealership & they are not supposed to charge you.

So far I have brought my new car to BMW of Manhattan twice & they honored the warranty & charged me nothing for the tire.

Yesterday I brought my car in for a slow leak in the passenger side rear tire (I had to refill it every 1-2 days to prevent the low air alarm from sounding). They advised me that not only did the rear tire need to be replace but also the rear rim (they said it was cracked) & the front tire (which I never mentioned).

They said the insurance will cover the front tire & the rear rim but not the rear tire. They said the rear tire wasn't covered because it was not a nail but the tire was simply worn out. I advised the rep that I have had the car for less than a year. She said yes but you have $15k miles on it & a tire can wear out quickly if you drive it on a cracked rim.

She said the one tire will cost me $510. Am I being taken here? Are tires NOT covere3d when they are worn out in $15k miles.

yeah i have the same warranty. they have the right to deny it if the tire is below a certain tread or the tpms sensore goes off

your getting beat in the head...if they wont cover the rear tire buy it from tirerack and have someone else mount it

With the insurance I have, it covers everything up to 2/32nd left on the threads of the tire. It covers bubbles, crack on wheels, nails, ect. I just recently paid $436.60 for one tire to be replaced. $380 for tire and the rest labor. With my insurance I had to pay up front and I get a check within 2 weeks(just got my check yesterday) I just found 2 bubbles on each of my fronts and going to get them replaced soon.

So for your question, I don't think it should cost $510. Read the fine print on your insurance paper work to see up until when you are covered. It's prob a third party company. So you can contact them directly to get details.

Thanks to everyone who replied so quickly. I feel better now even though I think I am being screwed. If the warranty doesn't cover it should the tire manufacturer pay for a tire that "wears out" in 15k miles?

It depends bc You can be sitting still doing burn outs without putting any miles. So I'm jut saying that it might be hard to prove and I'm not saying you did that. But def doesn't hurt to try

Must be Jessica Parra that you're talking about. She's such a kind lady, I had my M3 rear tires replaced 3 times since I got my M3 in the summer, all covered under insurance. I thought they were supposed to replace the tires as well if it was damaged to a "cracked" rim

My wheel and tire insurance is First Automotive. I've never heard of them so also the dealer it took it to gt ge tire changed. I goingto insurance from Pace BMW when I'm bought my car.

Yes if your car is RWD. I never done a burnout. But from YouTube I figured that the rears would wear. Lol

not on our open diffs haha
During burnouts, one tire usually breaks free and burns out, especially if you are holding it in place
if you peel out you can get both tires pretty smokey, but more often than not, one tire smokes

Depending on how aggressively you drive, these cars can eat through tires
my last two sets lasted ~15k miles each, so it is plausible that the dealership would not honor the warrenty, but you can probably visit other dealerships and find one that will take care of you

Also, if you don't manage to find a dealer that will take care of it, I think this is a perfect opportunity to ditch the runflats
$500+ for one tire is ridiculous

Your insurance is for road hazard. You will not be reimbursed for the tire wearing because of regular use. Rft's are known for their poor mileage so the 15k is not unusual. Just curious , are the indicators showing on the tire? What is the thread depth?

I just got back from BMW and got 2 new fronts cause of bubbles. Paid up front and I will gt a check in 2 weeks. This is my third tire claim. Rft and ny pot holes can suck it.

listen buddy...tires are petty...I got about 6 changed not a problem..
they dont care about tires..

Rims are a differ story:
this is my 2nd cracked rim and they denied my claim...

Tire insurance can fkin suck it

the rears will last 30k...I did it on mine. Its all in the alignment
