Aux input speaker problem
Hi all,
I'm having some issues with the Aux input connection for my E92. When I plug my iPhone 4 into the Aux port, the music will play however the front right speaker randomly cuts out and the left continues to play as normal. I've tried a few different cables, and input devices with no luck. When I play normal radio or CD, this does not happen, so that rules out speakers and their connections. If I bang on the armrest, it tends to get the front right working again for a Short time. Anyone any ideas what this could be and how it can be repaired? Any help is appreciated. Thanks |

You probably need to replace the AUX jack.

I'm pretty sure the nav/audio is not covered under CPO warranty.
You can pry up the AUX jack from the center console but it's kinda hard not to leave a mark, even if you use a towel. You could disassemble your whole center console but I'm not sure how to do that. |

Yep, pull the rear of the centre console out where the rear heater vents are. You can then access the AUX socket from below to push out. If you can't buy a replacement then you can buy a chassis mount jack socket from an electrical parts retailer.

When I removed the rear AC vent cover, I couldn't get access to my AUX port. It was blocked by some plastic and I had no leverage to push up on the AUX jack....06 E90. Don't know if it's different for E92s.

It may be worth having a close look from the back with a torch to see if you can prod a long screwdriver in there to push the AUX plate up?

I've tried several different cables now. Even tried to pop out the little black plate that houses the Aux cable. Its deffinately not the speakers as the radio works perfectly. If I wanted to replace the Aux input jack, are they easy to replace? Can they be bought separately?

I've taken the Aux input module out of the arm rest compartment, and to the naked eye it looks fine. I'll maybe replace it if it would make a diffirence?
I'm thinking it could be a loose connection or something behind the radio itself. About 6 months ago I fitted a Parrot Blu tooth kit which required some unplugging/plugging and moving of wires. I wonder if that could be linked to the issue? Although Blu tooth works a treat through all speakers. Does anyone think that could be the problem? |
