Different levels for FM/SAT vs CD/MP3?
I have a 11 335is and almost all the time, I listen to mp3's off a usb drive plugged in. I've adjusted the levels using the guide here and as my own, and very happy.
Now if I change the audio source to either the FM or SAT... it sounded horrible and the levels were all off. So I reset the tone settings back to factory default (flat). With that, I played various mp3s off a usb, music off a iphone, fm, sat... and I clearly notice that the levels are all screwed up for both the FM/SAT compared to the other audio sources... It's almost like the FM/SAT audio sources goes through an equalizer before it hits the user controllable equalizer. So my question is, is this normal? Is there a way to have two different equalizer settings depending on source... or any other fixes. |

Maybe it's your MP3s?
I know you said it sounds good with your USB drive but maybe that's because you adjusted them to your liking. Did you follow the guide here to the letter? Or did you just adjust to be near it? Unfortunately, I don't think our HU have the capability to save "tone" adjustments for individual source. What about FM and SAT bothers you? Static? Distortion? If it's just the FM and SAT sources that you don't like....they are the only ones that are being received by your car. Have you had the connections behind the HU checked? Or under the shark fin? |
