Cool Autovogue 335i, Respray, New wheels, 400bhp etc!!!!

Most of you know i bought a 335i from Autovogue back in March..Looked like this.

After a couple of weeks i started noticing a few things.
The wheels were developing flat spots- which were replaced, and the new ones have done the same!
The quality of the kit was OK, but not worth the 7 grand they are asking for it.
The sideskirts were about 1cm too short.
The rear parking sensors were bodged in, leaving marks on the bumper.
Some other little misdemeanours with the bumpers, fitment etc.
The kit was also a different shade of grey!
window surrounds and mirrors had marks, so are being resprayed.
I also wasnt happy with the BMW orange peel, and there were marks on the car, so i took it to my bodyshop!

Apologies for the phone pics!
The bodyshop ended up respraying the whole car apart from the roof!

Some shots of the bumpers.

During and after a wetsand/ Polish

I also had these refurbished, and will be going on tomorrow!.Genuine BBS LM's 19x8.5 and 19x9.5

Im also having a quaife diff fitted, along with AR ceramic coated downpipes and an Evolve remap, which should take me to around 400bhp.
Will post pics/vids when i get the car back!

Anybody fancy a turbo upgrade?..By the way thats a full size can next to it! (was a train turbo we managed to aquire!)..Just for the record, This isnt going on my car!

It may just be that i am extremely picky when it comes to marks on my cars etc.

The Kit looked fine, until you really start looking up close. In my experience, every kit is going to need fixing to make it look great.

Jeez Jules, this must be costing you a mint. I going to ask the obvious question though, with the diff and power upgrade, why didn't you go for an M3?

It isnt costing too much actually, i think its becuase this bodyshop gets alot of our work.

As for M3... Im not sure. I bought this and started playing with it, and knowing i wont get that money back, i might as well go all the way and keep it a couple of years!

Nice. I'm curious about the respray process; how long was paint left to cure and was it in heated room?

Put up some pic of the end result when finished

Hi mate,

Any reason you're going for the ceramic coated AR downpipes?

Is there a performance benefit or just cos they'll look like something off a supercar?

Which colour you having?

I've been in touch with Andrew at AR design re the pipes, an intercooler and oil cooler etc. He gives a good discount if you mail him and ask nicely .

i believe it generally lends itself to weight reduction in that you can do away with heat shielding (i think)

it also does look kinda cool, but is slightly unnecessary imo

There is no proof out there that ceramic coating makes any difference on N54 downpipes. I recieved some pretty expert advice on this, and I decided to go with standard AR catless downpipes.

They should be shipped any day now - can't wait to get them on the e91.

RE ceramic coating -

Thought as much, although maybe they will make the secondary cats heat up quicker due to the heat insulating effect of the ceramic coating maintaining the exhaust gas temp thru the downpipes??

Might make passing the MOT a bit easer with no primary CATs.....

I'd priced up the standard AR downpipes and the AMS intercooler and the secondary oil coooler and the oil catch can..... hopefully get them on over the summer.

Sounds like a good setup Doughboy. I have the AMS FMIC, BSH catch can, upgraded intake with AR DPs on the way. I run pretty conservative boost levels (up to 12psi) - but these mods really wake the motor up without putting much more stress on the turbos.
